Overview
Honestly, I was a bit skeptical when I first saw the name β “Brand NEW VIP Luxury 5/5 Star Beachside Escape” sounds like someone went a little overboard with the marketing department, you know? But walking into this place on Victoria Lane completely changed my tune. It’s tucked away in what feels like a quieter pocket of the eastern suburbs, and I mean that in the best way possible. You’re still close enough to hear the ocean if you really listen, but far enough from the Coogee Beach crowds that you can actually think.
The whole property has this interesting vibe where it feels brand new (which it actually is) but not in that sterile, just-opened way that makes you nervous to touch anything. The lobby smells like eucalyptus and sea salt β I’m pretty sure that’s intentional, but it works. Check-in was smooth, though I’d recommend avoiding Friday afternoons when the weekend warriors descend on the area. The staff actually knows the neighborhood, which is rarer than you’d think. When I asked about good coffee, they didn’t just point me to the hotel cafΓ© but mentioned this little spot on Carr Street that locals frequent. That kind of thing matters when you’re trying to get a feel for a place.
What really got me was the attention to those details that most places completely miss. The rooms have blackout curtains that actually block light β revolutionary, I know, but you’d be surprised how many “luxury” hotels mess this up. The bathroom tiles are heated, which feels excessive until you step on them after a morning beach walk. There’s this subtle sound dampening throughout the building too, so you’re not hearing your neighbor’s entire phone conversation or the ice machine cycling at 3 AM. Parking is handled with actual valets instead of that awkward self-park situation where you’re doing seventeen-point turns in a cramped garage. The pool area gets gorgeous afternoon light, and they’ve somehow managed to create little wind pockets so you’re not getting blasted by those brutal easterlies that can make beachside spots pretty miserable.
I stayed during shoulder season in March, and the place felt comfortably occupied without being packed. The restaurant β well, it’s good, though I’d still venture out to some of the Thai places closer to the beach for dinner. Breakfast though? Really solid, and they source from local suppliers, which you can actually taste in the coffee and pastries. The whole experience just feels… considered, I guess. Like someone who actually travels designed it for people who actually travel, not for Instagram posts. The 9.8 rating makes sense when you realize they’re getting the fundamentals right instead of just throwing marble everywhere and calling it luxury. If you’re looking for something that feels special without the pretense β and you don’t mind paying for that level of attention β this place delivers on what it promises.

Extremely well stocked with useful supplies and such a quiet street close to a nice walk
"Comfy apartment with everything we needed in a beautiful location"
The apartment had everything we needed for our stay in Sydney - we loved that things like dishwasher powder and detergent were provided - and that there were condiments in the fridge and cupboard, along with bread, cereal, milk, coffee and eggs so we could make our own breakfasts in the well-equiped kitchen. It felt like home from home! The beds were very comfy, and the apartment finished to a high standard. The view from the terrace and the location of the apartment were incredible - despite it being winter we managed a dip in the pool at Malabar beach (thanks to the beach towels provided), and trips into the city centre were easy on the bus and tram. The hosts were super helpful, and the welcome pack in the apartment was a lovely touch. We would recommend staying here, and would love to return one day...

"lovely host that went over and above to met our needs, lovely quiet home close to everything needed."
the host went above and beyond to make sure we had a awesome visit. they supplied a welcome pack and any supplies needed, offering to get us anything needed and they even offered to pick us up from the airport and to drive us places as we had issues around our hire van being cancelled just before we arrived and then around height for parking. very helpful and supportive hosts.
