It sounds like someone got a bit carried away with the marketing department, you know? But actually staying here? Completely different story. This place sits right on Campbell Street, and if you know Glebe at all, you’ll appreciate that it’s tucked away from the main Glebe Point Road chaos but still close enough that you can walk to all the good stuff. I mean, you’re literally a five-minute stroll from those weekend markets everyone raves about, and honestly, the smell of fresh bread from the bakeries drifts over in the mornings – which is either fantastic or torture depending on your diet situation.

The thing that struck me most was how they’ve managed to nail that tricky balance between being genuinely family-friendly without feeling like a daycare center. The lobby has this warm, lived-in feeling – sort of like staying at your coolest aunt’s house, if she happened to have impeccable taste and a serious coffee machine. The staff actually remember your name after day one (rare these days), and they know their neighborhood inside out. When I asked about getting to the fish markets early, the front desk guy gave me this whole spiel about which bus to catch and warned me about the Saturday morning crowds – stuff you’d never get from a generic hotel chain. The rooms themselves are spacious enough that families aren’t climbing over each other, but not so massive that solo travelers feel lost. I stayed during school holidays, so there were definitely kids around, but the sound insulation is surprisingly good. You might hear the occasional laugh in the hallway, but nothing that’ll keep you up at night.

What really sold me, though, was the location’s personality. Glebe has this fantastic mix of university students, young families, and longtime locals who’ve been here since the area was grittier – and this hotel somehow captures that energy perfectly. You’ll find yourself chatting with other guests about the best coffee spots (go to Badde Manors, trust me), or getting recommendations for the little gallery spaces tucked down the side streets. The walk to Circular Quay takes about 20 minutes along the harbor, which beats dealing with Sydney traffic any day. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle – street parking is hit or miss, and the hotel’s spots fill up fast – but honestly, once you’re settled in, you won’t need a car much. The buses run frequently, and there’s something satisfying about exploring Sydney from this more authentic, less touristy base. It’s got that perfect 4-star sweet spot where everything works properly without being stuffy, and that perfect 10 rating suddenly makes complete sense once you’ve spent a few days here.

  Beautifully renovated and well appointed. Location was excellent too.
  
  What could be improved: Parking availability wasn’t clearly advertised. We booked a 5 bedroom house and we had more than 3 car spaces required. This was an issue.
