You know what struck me first about this place? Walking into 311 Castlereagh Street, I actually thought I’d entered the wrong building – it’s nestled in this heritage-style block that feels worlds away from the usual glass towers dominating Sydney’s CBD. The Vintage Charm 3BR lives up to its name in ways that surprised me, honestly. The space has this warm, lived-in quality that makes you want to kick off your shoes immediately, but everything’s been thoughtfully updated. I mean, the kitchen actually has proper counter space (you’d be amazed how rare that is in Sydney apartments), and the three bedrooms are genuinely spacious – not the shoebox situations you often get in the city center.
The views are the real showstopper here. From the main living area, you’re looking out over the urban landscape toward Hyde Park, and depending on which bedroom you claim, you might catch glimpses of the harbor in the distance. I spent way too much time just standing by those windows with my morning coffee, watching the city wake up below. The gym and pool situation is actually pretty sweet too – they’re not massive, but they’re well-maintained and rarely crowded when I used them around 7 AM. Parking in the CBD is usually a nightmare, but having that dedicated spot takes such a weight off your shoulders. I didn’t have to circle blocks looking for street parking or fork over $40 a day for some dingy garage.
What really sold me on this place was how it sits in the neighborhood. You’re literally a three-minute walk from Martin Place station, which means you can zip anywhere in the city without thinking twice. But here’s the thing locals know – Castlereagh Street has this quieter energy compared to the chaos of George or Pitt Streets. There’s this little laneway café called Penny Lane (I think?) just around the corner that does incredible flat whites, and you’re close enough to the Queen Victoria Building that you can duck in for groceries or whatever else you need. Evenings are surprisingly peaceful for being right in the heart of everything – I expected more street noise, but the building seems well-insulated. The 9.9 rating honestly makes sense when you experience it firsthand. It’s not trying to be some flashy hotel experience; it just nails the fundamentals of what you want in a Sydney base – space, location, and those little touches that make you feel settled rather than just visiting.

Three seperate bedrooms, one with a king bed, and one room with an ensuite. Plenty of room for a group or family. There is a washer dryer as well which is really handy, and full kitchen. Location is great, close to restaurants and central station.
