Look, I’ve stayed at my fair share of Sydney hotels, and Vibe Hotel on Goulburn Street hits this sweet spot that’s honestly pretty rare in the CBD. You know what I mean? It’s got that boutique feel without trying too hard, and the location – well, you’re literally a three-minute walk from Central Station, which sounds sketchy but actually isn’t. The whole Surry Hills vibe is creeping north, and this stretch of Goulburn has cleaned up nicely over the past few years.

The rooms are what really got me though. They’ve done this whole industrial-chic thing with exposed brick and these massive windows that actually open (revolutionary concept, right?). I mean, the air conditioning works fine, but sometimes you just want that Sydney breeze, even if it comes with a bit of city noise. Speaking of noise – yeah, you’ll hear some traffic, but it’s that consistent urban hum that honestly becomes white noise after the first night. The beds are proper comfortable too, not those rock-hard hotel mattresses that leave you feeling like you wrestled a kangaroo. And the bathrooms… look, I’m not usually one to get excited about hotel bathrooms, but these rainfall showers are something else, plus there’s actually counter space for your stuff.

What really sealed the deal for me was how the staff just get it – they’re not overly chatty but they know their stuff. The concierge pointed me toward this little coffee spot on Elizabeth Street that I never would’ve found otherwise (skip the hotel coffee, trust me on this one). The rooftop bar situation is decent for pre-dinner drinks, though it gets absolutely packed during Friday night drinks season – you’ve been warned. But here’s the thing about the location that most people miss: you’re walking distance to both the fancy Pitt Street Mall shopping and the grittier, more interesting stuff happening around Central Park. Plus, if you’re heading to the airport, that train connection is clutch. Parking’s available but pricey, like everywhere in Sydney, so honestly just Uber it or take the train. The whole place just feels like someone actually thought about what travelers need instead of what looks good in photos – though it photographs pretty well too, if that’s your thing.

  The beds were comfortable and good sized. The rooms had good amount of space to move about. The hotels central location is the main selling point and the room configuration is very suited to family.
