Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of hotels in Sydney’s north, and Veriu Macquarie Park honestly surprised me. You know that stretch of Lane Cove Road where everything sort of blends together in corporate bland? Well, this place actually manages to stand out – and not just because of the sleek black exterior that catches your eye as you’re driving past.

The thing about this hotel is that it gets the business traveler thing right without feeling soulless. I mean, you’re basically in the heart of Sydney’s tech corridor here, surrounded by all those gleaming office towers and the Macquarie Centre just down the road. But inside, there’s this warm, almost residential feel that makes you forget you’re staying in what’s essentially a business district. The rooms are genuinely spacious – not that “spacious for Sydney” kind of spacious where you can barely open your suitcase, but actually roomy with these floor-to-ceiling windows that flood everything with natural light. The beds are proper comfortable too, with that just-right firmness that doesn’t leave you tossing around all night.

What really works about the location is how connected you are without the city chaos. Macquarie Park station is literally a few minutes’ walk away, so you can be in the CBD in about 20 minutes on the metro, but you’re also right there for all the North Shore beaches if you’ve got time to explore. The hotel’s restaurant does this modern Australian menu that’s actually worth eating at – I’ve had too many hotel dinners that taste like they came from a corporate catering manual, but this felt like they actually care about the food. Parking was surprisingly stress-free too, which anyone who’s driven around Sydney will appreciate. The staff seem to genuinely know the area well; they pointed me toward this great little coffee spot on Herring Road that I never would have found otherwise.

Honestly, the 9.1 rating makes sense when you experience the place. It’s not trying to be flashy or over-the-top luxurious – it’s just really well thought out. The lobby has this relaxed, almost living room vibe where you can actually work or meet people without feeling like you’re on display. Even the elevators are quiet, which sounds like a weird thing to notice until you’ve stayed somewhere with clanky lifts that wake you up every time someone comes back from a late dinner. If you’re in Sydney for business around Macquarie Park or North Ryde, or even if you’re just looking for a solid base that’s not in the middle of tourist central, this place delivers without any of the usual hotel nonsense.

  Great location, 2-3 min walk to Metro station and bus station.
  Rooms very clean and comfortable. Daily cleans as needed . Housekeeping and reception staff friendly and helpful.

  Excellent location, lots of food stores nearby. Very close to Macquarie shopping centre, close to metro Line M1, clean and quiet, with all the necessary kitchenware, and a washing/drying machine inside the room too. Car parking is safe and easy.

  This room was immaculately clean, well designed and well stocked, the gym was a surprise and so well maintained. Hair dryer even came with a diffuser attachment.

  We did not eat in.
  The property was perfect for our visit to family in North Ryde.
  Being so close to the Metro was a huge bonus

  Comfortable, clean, well set out room. Modern kitchen with quality appliances. Excellent bathroom.
  
  What could be improved: Location is on the corner of two busy roads so traffic noise was sometimes an issue. Late night truck exhaust brakes were annoying. So were loud motorbikes. If you’re arriving in your own car there is only one entrance to the carpark. The street is easy to miss as it comes off a bus lane. If you miss the turn the only way back is a ten minute drive around the block. The hotel is not really in walking distance of the shopping centre.
