TREETOPS PENTHOUSE Rose Bay Sydney, 3 bedrooms
You know what? I’ve stayed in a lot of Sydney accommodations, and the Treetops Penthouse in Rose Bay is honestly one of those places that makes you feel like you’ve stumbled onto something special. When I first walked in, I actually stopped in the doorway for a second – the views hit you immediately, stretching across Rose Bay and out toward the harbor. It’s perched up on Old South Head Road (you’ll drive right past it if you’re not looking for the number), and the elevation really works in your favor here.
The three-bedroom setup is perfect if you’re traveling with family or friends who actually want to spread out a bit. I mean, hotel rooms are fine, but there’s something about having a proper kitchen where you can grab coffee in the morning without getting dressed, or store those amazing cheeses you bought at the markets. The living area flows naturally toward those big windows, and honestly, I found myself just sitting there in the evenings watching the water traffic – ferries heading back from Manly, the occasional yacht coming in late. The bedrooms are well thought out too, with the master getting the best harbor glimpse, though even the smaller rooms have decent light and space.
What really got me was how quiet it stays despite being on a fairly busy road. Rose Bay isn’t exactly sleepy – you’ve got the seaplane base just down the way (which is actually pretty cool to watch, though the first morning plane might wake you around 7am), and the usual Eastern Suburbs traffic. But the penthouse position and what feels like solid construction keeps most of the street noise out. Parking was straightforward in the building, which, let’s be honest, is half the battle in this part of Sydney. You’re also walking distance to some genuinely good spots – Catalina if you want to splash out on seafood with a view, or just the Rose Bay shops for basics. The Woollahra council area keeps things pretty well maintained around here.
I’ll be straight with you – this isn’t budget accommodation, and the 4-star rating reflects decent quality without being over-the-top luxurious. But that 9.5 rating makes sense when you factor in the space, the views, and the fact that you’re staying in one of Sydney’s prettier pockets without the tourist chaos of somewhere like Circular Quay. The ferry from Rose Bay wharf gets you into the city in about 20 minutes when you want the urban fix, but you can also walk along the harbor foreshore or pop over to Vaucluse for a more relaxed afternoon. It’s that sweet spot where you feel like you’re living in Sydney rather than just visiting it.
You need to let the property know what time you'll be arriving in advance.
