Hotel Description

You know what? I wasn’t expecting much from an apartment hotel on Albion Avenue – I mean, it’s basically a residential street that most tourists completely miss. But honestly, The Pavilion End completely changed my mind about what a 4-star place in Paddington should feel like. The moment you walk in, there’s this sense that someone actually thought about how people live, not just where they sleep for a night.

The location is genuinely brilliant, and I don’t say that lightly. You’re about a 7-minute walk to Paddington Station (the real one, not some distant suburb claiming to be “near” it), which means you can actually get around Sydney without dealing with parking nightmares or surge pricing on rideshares. What I really love is that you’re tucked away from the Oxford Street chaos, but close enough that you can wander over to those little galleries and vintage shops when you feel like it. The neighbors are mostly locals – you’ll hear real conversations in the morning, not just tourist chatter. There’s this excellent coffee place called Campos just around the corner that does proper flat whites, and honestly, starting your day there feels more authentic than anything you’ll find in the CBD.

The apartment itself has that 9.8 rating for good reason. Everything works the way it should (shocking, I know), but more importantly, it feels like a place where you can actually settle in for a few days. The kitchen isn’t just for show – I mean, you can cook real meals if you want to, though with Paddington’s food scene right outside, you might not bother. The bed is genuinely comfortable, not just hotel-comfortable, and the bathroom has decent water pressure, which… well, anyone who’s traveled around Australia knows that’s not always a given. What really got me was the attention to small details – proper blackout curtains, enough power outlets where you actually need them, and storage that makes sense for real luggage, not just a weekend bag. The wifi is solid too, which matters if you’re working remotely or just trying to figure out weekend plans without data charges.

I stayed there during a particularly busy weekend when half of Sydney seemed to be in town for some festival, and it was refreshingly quiet at night. The street doesn’t get much through traffic, so you’re not dealing with constant noise, but you’re also not in some sterile hotel district where everything shuts down at 9 PM. Check-in was straightforward – none of that awkward waiting around in a lobby while they “prepare your room.” The whole experience felt more like borrowing a friend’s really nice apartment than staying in a hotel, which is exactly what you want when you’re exploring a neighborhood like Paddington.

    It was clean, comfortable and well equiped. There were lots of lovely touches, such as soft throw rugs, chocolates and wine. Great location with easy access to public transport, restaurants and shops. Will definitely stay again when in Sydney.

    Everything is perfect in this beautiful flat-the bed is comfortable, there is plenty of space to unpack and feel at home. Luxurious linens, hot water, great cooking facilities and spacious surroundings make it the ideal spot for a Sydney stay. Excellent communications with the host, easy check in/out, and a fabulous neighborhood. The cafe next door is great for breakfast and lunch. This was our second stay and it was predictably perfect again!

    The apartment is located in a very quiet area but near main connection roads. 200 mt from Bus Stop: in 25 minutes in Bondi Beach, 30 minutes Coogee and 15 min CBD, direct connections! Nice restaurants and bakery in minutes walking distance. The apartment is a traditional Sydney building and is lovely decorated with all necessary equipments.

    Incredibly nice place, one really can feel at home. All kinds of attention to detail: had I forgotten an adaptor, there would have been not one but two. Also, the location is perfect: quiet but close to where the nice cafes (etc) are. The nearest cafe is about 2 metres away…

    What could be improved: Don't expect ocean views or actually any sort of view… given that one enters via stairs *down* from the street. It did not bother me (hence I kept the rating as max) as one anyway spends so much of one's time outside, getting more photons onto the retina / skin than one really needs. But perhaps good to be aware of this when you book.
