Look, I’ve walked past these bungalows on Campbell Parade probably a hundred times before actually staying in one, and honestly? I was kicking myself for waiting so long. The Bungalows at Bondi Prime 12 sits right there on the main strip – you know that stretch where all the backpackers are wheeling their suitcases and the surfers are dodging traffic with their boards. But here’s the thing that surprised me: once you’re inside unit 12, all that Campbell Parade chaos just… fades away. The design is actually thoughtful, not just thrown together like some of the other places along this strip.

What I love about this spot is how it gets the balance right – you’re literally across from Bondi Beach (I mean, you can see people setting up their umbrellas from the window), but you’re not dealing with the madness of staying right on the sand where teenagers are yelling at 2am. The bungalow itself feels more like a proper apartment than a hotel room, which is clutch if you’re planning to stay more than a couple nights. The kitchen actually works – I made coffee every morning and grabbed fresh stuff from the weekend markets that pop up nearby. You know what really sold me though? The shower pressure. After a day of salt water and sand, that matters more than you’d think.

The whole setup here just makes sense for how people actually want to experience Bondi. You can walk to Icebergs in five minutes (go early, trust me on this one), or head the other way toward Tamarama if you want something quieter. There’s a decent café literally next door, and if you need groceries, there’s a Woolworths about a ten-minute walk up the hill – though honestly, the hill back down with shopping bags is a bit of a workout. Parking can be tricky along Campbell Parade, but the area behind the building usually has something if you’re patient. I stayed here during peak summer and again in autumn, and I actually preferred the autumn visit – still warm enough for swimming, but you’re not fighting crowds for every inch of sand. The staff seem to genuinely know the area too, which is refreshing after dealing with so many places where they just hand you a generic tourist map and wish you luck.
