Hotel Description

Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first pulled up to The Bath House on Euroka Street – the name had me picturing something either super quirky or potentially weird. But you know what? It’s actually this charming little cottage that feels like you’ve stumbled onto someone’s really well-designed backyard retreat, except it’s smack in the middle of North Sydney.

The garden situation here is legit impressive. I mean, most places in Sydney this close to the CBD have maybe a sad little courtyard with some concrete and a struggling fern, but this place has actual lush greenery that makes you forget you’re in the city. The cottage itself has this cozy-luxe vibe going on – think exposed brick mixed with modern touches, nothing too fancy but definitely a step up from your standard hotel room. The bathroom (and yeah, I get the “Bath House” name now) is surprisingly spacious with one of those deep soaking tubs that you’ll actually want to use. Pro tip: grab some wine from the bottle shop on Miller Street before you settle in for the night.

Location-wise, you’re about a 10-minute walk to North Sydney station, which honestly beats dealing with city traffic if you need to get around. Milsons Point is even closer if you want to walk over the Harbour Bridge – and trust me, doing that walk at sunset is worth the slight uphill trek back. The street itself is pretty quiet, mostly residential, so you won’t have drunk people stumbling around at 2am like you might in the city proper. Parking can be a bit tricky during weekdays since it’s permit zones, but weekends are fine and there’s usually something within a block or two. The check-in process was smooth – they actually met me there in person rather than doing the whole lockbox thing, which I appreciated since I had questions about the heating system (it’s one of those split-system units that takes a minute to figure out, but once you do, it works great).

What really sets this place apart is that it feels like staying at a friend’s place rather than a hotel. The kitchen is actually functional – like, you could legitimately cook a proper meal here instead of just reheating takeout. There’s a decent coffee setup too, though if you’re picky about your flat whites, Botanica on Miller Street does excellent coffee and it’s maybe a 5-minute walk. The whole place just has this lived-in comfort that you don’t usually get in accommodations. Sure, it’s not going to have 24-hour room service or a concierge, but for three stars, it punches way above its weight in terms of comfort and style. If you’re looking for somewhere that feels like a proper retreat without being stuck out in the suburbs, this little cottage nails that sweet spot perfectly.
