Tamarama Beachfront Apartment on Bondi to Bronte Walk
Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of beachfront places around Sydney, and most of them are either overpriced tourist traps or so far from the action you need an Uber just to grab coffee. But this little apartment on Kenneth Street? It’s actually the real deal. You’re literally on the Bondi to Bronte coastal walk – I mean, you step out the front door and you’re already on one of the most stunning cliff-top walks in the world. No exaggeration.
The thing about Tamarama is that it’s sort of the forgotten middle child between famous Bondi and trendy Bronte, which honestly works in your favor. The beach is smaller, way less crowded, and the locals call it “Glamarama” for a reason – it’s where the beautiful people go when they want to avoid the Bondi circus. From the apartment, you can hear the waves but it’s not that constant roar that keeps you up at night. The building itself feels solid, not like those flimsy new constructions, and the 4-star rating seems about right – it’s got everything you need without trying too hard to impress.
What really got me was the morning routine you fall into here. You wake up, make coffee (the kitchen’s actually functional, not just for show), and within two minutes you’re walking along sandstone cliffs with the Pacific stretching endlessly to your right. Head north toward Bondi and you’ll hit the weekend markets, or go south to Bronte and grab brunch at one of those cafes where everyone’s in activewear but somehow looks effortlessly chic. The walk itself takes maybe 20 minutes each way, but you’ll probably stop every few meters to take photos or just stare at the view. I kept thinking how lucky the people who live here permanently must feel – then I remembered I was one of them, at least for a few days.
Parking’s decent if you’re driving, which is honestly half the battle in this part of Sydney. The neighborhood’s quiet enough that you can leave windows open at night, and there’s something about the sea breeze that just knocks you out. You know what surprised me? How easy it was to feel like a local. The nearby shops on Campbell Parade aren’t tourist-focused – they’re the kind of places where people actually buy groceries and get their dry cleaning done. There’s a bottle shop that stays open late, a decent Thai place, and that famous Icebergs pool complex is basically your backyard if you want to do laps with a view.
The 9.7 rating makes sense when you consider you’re getting genuine beachfront living without the usual compromises. It’s not trying to be a luxury resort, it’s just a really well-located, comfortable place to stay while you pretend you’re a Sydney local who happens to live on one of the world’s most photographed stretches of coastline. During summer it’ll be busier, obviously, but even then Tamarama maintains this laid-back vibe that Bondi lost years ago. If you want to experience Sydney’s beach culture without feeling like you’re staying in a tourist bubble, this is honestly one of the better options I’ve found.
You need to let the property know what time you'll be arriving in advance.
