You know what? I’ve stayed in a lot of places around Sydney Olympic Park, and this spot on Nuvolari Place actually surprised me. First off, forget what you think you know about Wentworth Point – it’s not some industrial wasteland anymore. The Alora building sits right in this pocket of modern development that honestly feels more like you’re in some upscale suburb than near a major event venue.

The two-bedroom setup here is properly done, not like those cramped “apartments” you sometimes get where they’ve clearly just thrown up a wall to create a second room. I mean, you’ve got actual space to spread out, which is rare when you’re this close to the Olympic precinct. The kitchen’s got everything you need if you’re the type who actually cooks while traveling (the Woolworths on Footbridge Boulevard is maybe a seven-minute walk if you need groceries). What really sold me though was stepping out onto the balcony in the morning – you get this view across the water toward the city that makes you forget you’re technically in the western suburbs.

Here’s the thing about staying here versus some hotel in the CBD: you’re about twelve minutes to Central on the train, but without the constant sirens and street noise. The ferry wharf is literally at the end of the street, and honestly, taking the ferry into Circular Quay beats the hell out of sitting in traffic or cramming into peak-hour trains. Plus – and this is something most visitors don’t realize – you’re walking distance to some genuinely good restaurants along the waterfront. There’s this Vietnamese place that does incredible pho, and a café that actually knows how to make coffee (not a given in Sydney’s newer developments, trust me).

The building itself feels solid, not like some of the rushed constructions you see around here. Good soundproofing, decent lifts, and parking that doesn’t require a PhD in geometry to navigate. I stayed during a weekend when there was some massive event at ANZ Stadium, and while you could hear the crowd roar during big moments, it wasn’t annoying – more like background atmosphere. The check-in process was smooth, though you’ll want to clarify the exact unit number beforehand since the building directory can be a bit confusing.

Look, if you’re coming to Sydney for the typical tourist circuit and want to stumble out of your hotel onto the Harbour Bridge, this probably isn’t your spot. But if you’re here for events at Olympic Park, or you just want a proper apartment with space to breathe while still being connected to the city, this place delivers. The area’s got this weird charm – it’s new enough that everything works properly, but established enough that there’s actual life happening, not just construction sites and empty lots. Plus, that rating of 9 out of 10? Yeah, I get it. It’s one of those places that just works without trying too hard to impress you.
