You know what struck me first about this place? The moment you walk out onto that balcony, you’re basically staring straight at the Opera House and Harbour Bridge – I mean, it’s one of those views that actually makes you stop mid-conversation. The Sydney Harbourside Apartment sits right on McMahons Point, which honestly might be the best-kept secret for harbour views without the Circular Quay crowds. Henry Lawson Avenue is this quiet residential street, but you’re literally a two-minute walk to the ferry wharf, and that ferry ride into the city is half the experience right there.

The apartment itself feels like someone’s stylish home rather than a sterile hotel room, which I really appreciated. The kitchen’s actually functional – not just for show – and there’s something satisfying about making your morning coffee while watching the early ferries chug across the harbour. The furniture’s modern without being cold, and the bed was honestly one of the more comfortable ones I’ve had in Sydney. What I didn’t expect was how quiet it gets at night, despite being so close to the water and the city. The building’s solid, and McMahons Point has this surprisingly peaceful vibe once the day-trippers head home. Parking was straightforward too, which… well, anyone who’s driven in Sydney knows that’s not a given.

Here’s the thing about staying on the lower North Shore – you get all the harbour magic without the tourist chaos. There’s a lovely little park right next to the building where locals walk their dogs, and if you’re into running, the path along the water is perfect for morning jogs. The Blues Point Tower is a short walk away, and honestly, the sunset views from there are incredible. During the week it’s mostly business travelers and the occasional tourist who’s done their homework, but weekends bring a few more people discovering what locals have known forever – that this side of the harbour is pretty special. The 8.9 rating makes sense when you factor in that view, the genuine comfort of the space, and the fact that you’re getting a real Sydney experience rather than just another hotel stay. I’d definitely come back, especially if I wanted to feel like I was actually living in Sydney for a few days rather than just visiting it.

  Location was fantastic. Right on McMahon Point. Ferry stop right there. So easy to get around. Used ferries our whole stay. View in apartments photos does not do it justice. Both bedrooms and lounge/dining/kitchen all look out at this lovely view. Main bedroom is huge and has king size bed and comfy as well. 2nd bedroom decent size, and comfy bed. Bathroom has great walk in shower, rain water and hand held shower head, good pressure. Lovely Kitchen has EVERYTHING. Enough comfy lounge chairs for all of us. Would loved to have stayed longer. Definitely recommend.

  Proximity to public transport (busses, ferries) and the views are unbeatable. Hosts were very responsive to my questions and checking in to ensure everything went smoothly. Beautifully decorated. Beds were very comfortable.
