Hotel Description
Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first looked up 60 High Street – I mean, it’s right in the thick of Sydney’s CBD, and usually that means tourist traps and overpriced everything. But you know what? This place actually surprised me. The moment you walk in, there’s this immediate sense that someone really thought about what travelers actually need, not just what looks good in photos.
The waterview situation is legit – and I’m saying this as someone who’s been burned by “waterviews” that turn out to be a sliver of blue between two buildings. From most of the rooms, you’re looking out over Circular Quay area, and if you’re lucky enough to snag one of the higher floors, the harbor glimpses are pretty spectacular. The rooms themselves have this lived-in comfort that’s hard to fake – good lighting where you actually need it, proper blackout curtains (thank god), and honestly some of the most comfortable beds I’ve encountered in Sydney. The air conditioning works without sounding like a freight train, which… well, if you’ve stayed in older Sydney hotels, you know that’s not always a given.
What I really appreciate is how they’ve nailed the location without making you feel like you’re camping in Times Square. High Street puts you within walking distance of everything that matters – Circular Quay is maybe eight minutes if you’re moving at a decent pace, and the train station is close enough that you can actually hear the announcements if your window’s open (not annoying, just… urban white noise). The area gets busy during business hours, obviously, but it settles down nicely in the evenings. There’s a decent coffee place two blocks down that the locals actually use – always a good sign – and the little laneway bars everyone talks about are all within stumbling distance. Parking can be a nightmare during the day, but honestly, that’s Sydney CBD for you. The staff seems to get that most guests are here to explore on foot anyway, and they’re pretty solid with directions to avoid the tourist-heavy routes. I actually found myself using this place as a proper home base rather than just somewhere to crash, which says something about how they’ve set things up. The 9.2 rating makes sense once you’re there – it’s not trying to be flashy or revolutionary, just really, really good at being exactly what a city hotel should be.

Cozy, clean and nice vibes – Abigail from United States – 25 August 2024 (10/10)
Location was great. May need a taxi because it is on the other side of C. Quay and some hills but nice and quiet – which is unusual for this part of Sydney.

EVERYTHING! If we could give a score higher than 10, then we would. Absolutely the best accommodation we have stayed in. It was easy to communicate with Nancy. The location was a 10 minute walk to cafes, restaurants, pubs and Circular Quay. No need to hire a car. We did order an Uber but that was because it was raining and we needed to get to the Overseas Passenger Terminal for our cruise. Waterviews from verandah and main bedroom. Coffee machine, washing machine, dryer and dishwasher are available for use.

Superb location, walking distance to many attractions, and easy access to public transport.

What could be improved: Alles super!
