Sydney CBD Waterview Apartment 56A
You know what surprised me most about this place? The water views actually live up to the name – and that’s saying something in Sydney CBD where half the “harbor view” apartments show you a sliver of blue between two office towers. From 56A High Street, you’re getting proper glimpses of the water, especially if you snag a unit facing the right direction. I mean, you’re not exactly perched on Circular Quay, but honestly, the location works better than you’d think.
The building itself sits right in that sweet spot where you can walk to literally everything – Martin Place is maybe three minutes away, and you’re close enough to the Rocks that you’ll hear the weekend crowds if your windows are open. But here’s the thing about High Street that most people don’t realize until they stay there: it’s actually pretty quiet at night. During the day, sure, there’s the usual city hum, but after 7 PM it settles down nicely. The apartments themselves feel more spacious than typical Sydney CBD places, probably because they’re not trying to cram everything into those shoebox conversions you see everywhere else. The kitchens are actually functional – I’m talking full-sized fridge, decent counter space, the kind of setup where you could legitimately cook instead of just reheating takeaway.
What really sold me on this place was the little details that show someone actually thought about how people live, not just how properties look in photos. The shower pressure is solid (miracle in older CBD buildings), there’s enough storage that you won’t be living out of your suitcase, and the Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every time someone in the next unit starts streaming Netflix. The 7.9 rating feels about right – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it’s genuinely comfortable in a way that lets you forget you’re staying in temporary accommodation. Parking can be a bit of a dance if you’re driving, but honestly, you’re so close to Wynyard and Martin Place stations that you probably won’t need a car anyway. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if you’re the type who likes being in the thick of things but still wants to actually sleep at night.
You need to let the property know what time you'll be arriving in advance.
