Hotel Description
Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of Sydney CBD places, and this apartment on High Street honestly surprised me. When you first walk into 54A, you get that “oh, this is actually nice” feeling – you know what I mean? The waterview isn’t just some tiny glimpse through buildings either; you’re actually looking out over the harbor, which is pretty solid for this part of the city.
The location is what really makes this place work. High Street puts you right in the thick of things without being on one of those crazy busy tourist strips. I mean, you’re literally a three-minute walk to Circular Quay – I timed it because I’m weird like that – and the ferry terminal becomes your best friend for getting around. The apartment itself feels more like someone’s actual home than a sterile hotel room, which I appreciate. There’s a proper kitchen (not just a mini-fridge and microwave situation), and honestly, the couch is comfortable enough that I actually used it instead of just sitting on the bed like usual. The bathroom’s got decent water pressure too, which… well, if you’ve stayed in enough city apartments, you know that’s not always a given.
What I really liked was how quiet it gets at night, even though you’re right in the CBD. High Street doesn’t get the same foot traffic as George Street or Pitt Street, so you’re not dealing with drunk people yelling at 2 AM (been there, done that at other places). The building itself seems well-maintained – the elevator actually works consistently, and the hallways don’t have that weird hotel carpet smell. During the day, you’ve got everything walkable: there’s a decent coffee place about two blocks down that the locals actually go to, and if you need groceries, there’s a Woolworths that’s closer than you’d expect. Parking is… well, it’s Sydney CBD, so it’s expensive and annoying, but there are a couple of parking garages nearby if you absolutely need a car. Honestly though, once you’re here, you probably won’t use it much. The whole setup just works – it’s got that sweet spot of being central enough to walk everywhere but residential enough to feel like you’re not staying in Times Square, if that makes sense.

Reviews
Great location within walking distance to different areas of city and good sized accommodation – White from Australia – 2 October 2023 (7/10)
Great location, spacious bedrooms, great bathroom and laundry facilities.
Good kitchen with dishwasher.
What could be improved: Microwave did not work ( had light and sounded like working but food wouldn’t heat).
Lounge not very comfortable or big enough for family of 4.
Need better Lighting on the outdoor roof areaLoved it at this property – Would definitely stay again! Thank you very much 🙂 – Diana from New Zealand – 25 March 2024 (10/10)
The location was very handy – We walked to the Opera House and many malls from here. The apartment is VERY spacious, modern and stylish. It had all the amenities of a full size house and was very clean and comfortable. All perfect.
We were two ladies so had a room each – but more than enough space for a couple and two children or two other adults (in the second room)
What could be improved: My friend was sleeping in the front room and there is currently huge construction going on for a new underground station just across the road. Hard for her to sleep in, with the pneumatic drilling or similar, as they started very early. Hopefully this project will be completed at some stage however, so it will be quieter.Truely magnificent in everything from booking to exit.. I will return – Natalie from Australia – 22 October 2023 (10/10)
The location is superb, the building has that old world charm. Very clean spacious and comfortable
What could be improved: The car parking but that’s not the property’s fault and steps but Iam oldThe place had potential but was let down by a lot of things – Ella from New Zealand – 5 March 2024 (4/10)
The apartment was spacious, had what we needed (a full fridge, spacious kitchen, appliances, 2 bedrooms, washer and dryer), was in a fantastic location and the host was friendly, easy to contact, and accommodated us in dropping our bags to the accomodation earlier while the place was cleaned. The balcony was a nice addition.
What could be improved: There was no extractor fan in the bathroom so we had to keep the window open to air it out. We found a cockroach in the bathroom at one point. The roof of the bathroom was covered in mould, as well as some of the crevices in the shower. The place smelt musty. The walls were dirty and scuffed. The hard floor needed a good deep clean – our feet were dirty after walking around bare feet after a few hours. Both of the bedside lights in the bigger room did not work, I even pulled the bed out to check it was all plugged in which they were, behind the best was very dusty. The area was a bit noisy outside which didn’t bother me too much but my friends commented on it – you could hear neighbours approaching the door and talking loudly, and the construction across the road was noisy. The smaller bedroom could have had a multi board in between the beds so that the bedside light could be plugged in with phone chargers etc. The small balcony needed a sweep. The stairs leading up the apartment had lots of rubbish on and needed a sweep.Exceptional – Rebecca from Australia – 11 June 2024 (10/10)
