Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked into this Parramatta apartment, I wasn’t expecting much from what sounded like your typical Airbnb listing. But stepping into unit 1109 at 20 Parkes Street actually surprised me in the best way. The place has this clean, modern vibe that doesn’t feel sterile, you know? The two bedrooms are properly sized (not those shoebox situations you sometimes get), and the living area opens up to this decent balcony where you can actually see some greenery mixed in with the urban sprawl. The pool – well, it’s shared obviously, but it’s one of those rooftop situations that makes you feel like you’re getting more bang for your buck than you paid for.
What really sold me on this spot though is how it sits in Parramatta. I mean, you’re literally a ten-minute walk from Westfield if you need to grab something, and the train station is close enough that you can hear the announcements if you’re on the balcony – but not so close that it’ll wake you up at 5 AM. The building itself is pretty quiet during the week, though weekends can get a bit lively with people using the pool area. Parking was surprisingly painless too, which anyone who’s driven around Sydney will tell you is half the battle won right there. The kitchen is actually functional – like, you can cook a proper meal, not just heat up instant noodles. I ended up making breakfast most mornings because the setup just worked, and there’s something satisfying about having your coffee while looking out over the Parramatta River in the distance.
Here’s what I really appreciate about staying here: it feels like you’re living in Sydney rather than just visiting it. The neighborhood has that authentic suburban Australian feel – you’ll hear kookaburras in the morning, there’s a decent café about three blocks down on George Street that locals actually go to, and you’re not fighting tourist crowds every time you step outside. The apartment itself is well-maintained without being fussy about it, and honestly, the 8.3 rating makes sense. It’s not trying to be some luxury experience, but everything just… works. The WiFi is solid, the air conditioning doesn’t sound like a helicopter, and the shower pressure is actually decent. For anyone wanting to explore western Sydney or just needing a base that’s not right in the CBD chaos, this place gets it right without any drama.

Superb – Millie from Australia – 26 June 2025 (9/10)
Close to shops and not too far to catch up with family who live in Parramatta
What could be improved: The basement drive up an downGreat stay! – Mazani from Australia – 1 March 2025 (8/10)
Location is great for why we were in Sydney.
What could be improved: The mattress in the master bedroom is our only complaint. Not very comfortable. We struggled to sleep. Please upgrade!! Also, a bit more choices on the different pillows would be welcome. Extra pillows of different firmness may be placed in the wardrobe at the top for choice. Pillows are hard to get right for everyone if there are no different choices being offered.Very good – Tim from Australia – 18 February 2025 (8/10)
What could be improved: Provide laundry liquid / powder for cleaning.

What could be improved: there was nothing i didnt like about the propertyDissapointing – Cindy-lou from Australia – 26 February 2025 (3/10)
We had an early check in
What could be improved: communication- we had trouble making communication with the property contact and had to contact bookings.com to intervene for us.
During our stay I sent many messages via bookings.com and texts to the contact and it took 24 hours for a response.
When we received a response to our question about which level the pool is on they gave us incorrect information and had to ask a resident
Key pick up
The key box is hanging in a fence in a main road with limited parking and in the middle of a building site. Very dangerous and inconvenient.
Accommodation
There is no signage on the parking garage so we couldn’t tell which level we were on.
The parking bays are not sequentially numbered so we had to drive through every level to find our parking spot. (Please see photos attached.
The parking garage has no data coverage so when we entered the garage we couldn’t contact anyone for assistance.
There is no one on the property to speak to about issues with the apartment.
Our apartment had a rancid smell like sewage coming from the European laundry which is right next to the kitchen. We had to use air freshener throughout our stay. We contacted the property manager to advise them if this and had no response.
There was only 4 towels for our 3 day stay and no pool towels.
There were no additional blankets pillows or bedding.
For such a large apartment they only have a table top ironing board not big or sturdy enough to iron clothes on.
We are very disappointed in this property and will not be staying here again and may not use bookings.com and use our Accor membership to stay at hotels that have all facilities that make our holidays more enjoyable.Exceptional – Rouk from Australia – 6 March 2025 (10/10)
