Hotel Description

Look, I’ll be straight with you about this place – STUNNING SYDNEY HOME 6 is one of those finds that doesn’t look like much from the booking photos, but actually delivers way more than you’d expect for a 3-star spot. The address threw me off at first because Windmill Street in Millers Point sounds like you’re staying in some forgotten corner of Sydney, but honestly? You’re about to stumble onto one of the city’s best-kept secrets.

Millers Point is this little pocket that most tourists completely miss, tucked right between the Harbour Bridge and Circular Quay. I mean, you can literally walk to the Opera House in fifteen minutes, but you’re staying in what feels like a proper Sydney neighborhood where actual people live. The terrace houses along Windmill Street have this beautiful sandstone thing going on – very old Sydney, very authentic. What I love about this area is that you’ll wake up to the sound of the harbor (if you get a room facing the right way), but you won’t deal with the tourist chaos that makes staying near Circular Quay feel like living in a theme park. The locals here still grab their morning coffee from the same spots they’ve been going to for years, and there’s this great little pub – the Hero of Waterloo – that’s been serving drinks since 1843 and feels genuinely historic, not like some manufactured “heritage experience.”

The hotel itself sits in what I’m pretty sure is a converted heritage building, so don’t expect massive rooms or ultra-modern everything. But you know what? The character more than makes up for it. The ceilings are high, the walls are thick (so you won’t hear your neighbors), and there’s this solid, settled feeling that new hotels just can’t replicate. Check-in was smooth when I stayed – none of that corporate efficiency, but not chaotic either. Just… normal, which was refreshing. The 7.8 rating makes sense to me because it’s not trying to be fancy, it’s just trying to be a good place to stay, and it succeeds at that. Parking can be tricky around here (welcome to inner Sydney), but the train station at Circular Quay is so close that you honestly don’t need a car anyway. The whole CBD is walkable from here, and if you’re planning to explore places like The Rocks or catch a ferry to Manly, you’re basically at the center of everything without paying harbor-view hotel prices. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if you’re the type of traveler who wants to feel like you’re actually in Sydney rather than just visiting it.

Reviews

  • Came for a show at the opera house was able to walk there – Dianne from Australia – 24 October 2024 (8/10)

    Location

What could be improved: Was woken up by the noise in the other units

Also the noise of the air conditioner from the other units in the laundry area

  • Great location, needs more effort from the owners to make it more comfortable – Gomez from Australia – 19 August 2024 (7/10)

    Location, view

What could be improved: Stains in couch and linen, shower that leaks through the glass and wets the bathroom floor, only one hand towel per person, no air conditioning, no possibility to leave luggage after checkout

  • Wonderful trip to Sydney will definitely stay again – Justine from Australia – 26 March 2024 (8/10)

    Location fabulous
    Clean and tidy

What could be improved: Very expensive however understand due to weekend travelling

  • great – Lee from Australia – 23 February 2024 (8/10)

    wonderful location

What could be improved: was so hot and humid – the fan just wasn’t enough to cool you down

  • We enjoyed our stay very much. The property is situated in a quiet area close to the central quay. Thank you very much. – Angela from United Kingdom – 17 March 2023 (8/10)

great location and the property was clean

What could be improved: The property could be equipped better. An extra bath towel and hand towel, only one wine glass, no kitchen scissors. The toilet seat does not fit the toilet and needs to be replaced. Could do with a rug in the bedroom and a mirror.

  • Great location for a simple and clean apartment – Ashley from Australia – 7 May 2024 (8/10)

Location is great for where I needed to be – walking distance to most places in Sydney CBD (as long as it's not raining). Apartment was clean and mostly comfortable. Great to have a full kitchen, bathroom and laundry.

What could be improved: Bed wasn't the most comfortable. Kitchen was clean, but lacked enough crockery/glassware. Smart locks seem great, but often the lock wouldn't fully engage and lock. Temperature control is very limited – would be great to be able to adjust with a heater or aircon.

  • A beautiful old, well maintained apartment in an amazing location – Geue from Australia – 23 January 2025 (8/10)

Excellent location. Perfect walking distance to circular quay to catch ferries, Sydney harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera house. Amazing view of the bridge too! It was a very spacious apartment with high ceilings in a beautiful old, well maintained building.
    Would definitely recommend!

What could be improved: I agree with the common theme in the reviews…
The pillows! Need to be replaced, please!
Very minimal, basic things in the kitchen for use. A few more plates, cutlery and glasses etc would be helpful.
Thankfully we stayed during mild weather but any warmer, lack of air con would have made the stay quite uncomfortable.

  • Sydney Rocks gem: historic comfort with exceptional hospitality. – Sergey from United States – 30 September 2023 (10/10)

We had an amazing time staying at this quaint vacation apartment tucked away in a century-old house right in the heart of Sydney Rocks. The historical vibes mixed with all the modern comforts made our experience truly one-of-a-kind and delightful. The apartment isn't just spotlessly clean; it's also incredibly well-kept and decked out with everything you need, making it a comfy and snug haven after a day of exploring the lively city.

The location is an absolute gem – right in the Sydney Rocks area, it strikes a perfect balance between peacefulness and convenience. The neighborhood is super nice, quiet, and scenic, creating this calm vibe that feels like a nice break from the busy city life. What's really cool is that even though it's so peaceful, you're just a short, picturesque walk away from the CBD.

Big shoutout to the host for their outstanding hospitality. They were super helpful, polite, and quick to respond, making sure every part of my stay went off without a hitch and was enjoyable. Their local tips and suggestions added this extra layer of realness to my Sydney adventure.

In a nutshell, this vacation apartment in the century-old house is a hidden gem in Sydney. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable mix of history, comfort, and convenience in one of the city's most iconic spots.

What could be improved: Everything's great keep up the good work, can't really spot any down points.
