Hotel Description
You know what caught me off guard about this place? The fact that it’s tucked away on Windmill Street in Millers Point – and honestly, most Sydney visitors have no idea this little pocket even exists. I mean, you’re literally in the CBD but it feels like you’ve stumbled into some secret residential enclave that somehow escaped the high-rise madness. The building itself is pretty standard – nothing fancy, just a solid 3-star setup – but the location does all the heavy lifting here.
Walking around Millers Point is actually kind of surreal because you’ve got these old sandstone buildings and narrow streets that feel almost European, then you turn a corner and boom – there’s the Harbour Bridge looming right over you. From this spot on Windmill Street, you’re maybe a 10-minute walk to Circular Quay, which sounds touristy but honestly, having the ferries that close is just practical gold. The Observatory Hotel crowd probably looks down on this area, but I’d rather save the money and use it for actual Sydney experiences, you know? The apartment itself is decent enough – clean, functional, nothing that’ll blow your mind but nothing that’ll disappoint either. The 7.4 rating feels about right, maybe even a touch generous, but it’s not trying to be the Four Seasons.
What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night, especially considering you’re so close to everything. Sure, you might catch some noise from the occasional late ferry or early morning delivery trucks heading to the Rocks, but it’s city noise, not party noise – there’s a difference. The check-in was surprisingly smooth too, though I’d definitely recommend confirming the exact unit number beforehand because the building numbers around here can be a bit confusing if you’re arriving after dark. Parking’s going to be your biggest headache (welcome to Sydney), but there are some paid spots nearby and honestly, once you’re settled in, you probably won’t need a car much anyway. The walk to the Rocks markets on weekends is literally five minutes, and if you’re into that whole historic Sydney thing, you’re basically living in the middle of it. I mean, this is where the first European settlers actually set up shop – you can’t get much more “authentic Sydney” than that, even if your temporary home is just a modern apartment in an old neighborhood.

Walking distance to most things – Wendy from New Zealand – 3 May 2025 (8/10)
What could be improved: Loved the apartment. The people that was on the floor above us had no consideration for the people below. Sounds like they were playing football the whole time they were home.
Place was spotless. Easiest handover of entry location and easiest wifi to enter. – Raffaele from Canada – 7 March 2025 (8/10)

What could be improved: There was no AC- but they had very good fans. It was just a particularly hot weather in sytA spacious comfortable and clean apartment in a spectacular location. – Marilyn from Australia – 10 April 2025 (9/10)
The location was sensational. Close the Rocks the Harbour and transport not to mention the numerous cafes restaurants and pubs. My only suggestion is that for the money we paid the host could have provided a coffee machine and decent coffee ( even a pod machine is better than instant coffee!!)
Excellent! – Andrew from New Zealand – 29 May 2024 (10/10)
Location superb!
A nice apartment let down by drab , cheap furnishings in a great location. – Tony from Australia – 23 February 2025 (4/10)
The location Was excellent , walking distance to the rocks and circular Quay.
What could be improved: The old apartment itself was very cool and had quite a good new fit out in the kitchen and bathroom.
however the furniture , furnishings, no air conditioning and bed let it down immensely. It felt low class and slightly dingy when we first walked in.
we paid just under $400 per night, way too much for such a low standard of luxury. we could have and should have stayed at the Star Casino for the same price .
The owners should invest $15000 more on luxury furnishings, A/C and brighten up the place , then it would command the asking price , maybe even a little more.Very good – Berrysmith from New Zealand – 30 December 2024 (8/10)
Superb – Patricia from Australia – 21 November 2024 (9/10)
Passable – Kazz from Australia – 13 May 2025 (5/10)
