You know what struck me first about this Maroubra apartment? The fact that it actually delivers on that “beachview” promise – and honestly, that’s rarer than you’d think with Sydney accommodation. I mean, I’ve been burned before by places claiming ocean views when all you get is a sliver of blue between two buildings. But from the living room windows here on Bona Vista Avenue, you’re looking straight out over Maroubra Beach, and it’s the kind of view that makes you want to grab your coffee and just… stare for a while.

The apartment itself is pretty straightforward – it’s a solid 3-star setup that doesn’t try to be fancy but gets the important stuff right. The kitchen’s got everything you need if you’re planning to cook (which I’d recommend, actually, since the Coles is just a short walk down Anzac Parade). What really sold me on this place was the parking – and if you’ve ever tried to find a spot near a Sydney beach on a weekend, you’ll understand why that’s basically gold. The whole area gets absolutely packed during summer, especially when the surf’s up, but having your own secure spot means you can actually enjoy coming and going without the stress. The building’s got that older Sydney apartment feel – you know, solid but not flashy – and the neighbors seem pretty chill. I never had any noise issues, even on Friday nights when the local crowd gets a bit lively.

Location-wise, you’re right in the heart of Maroubra, which is perfect if you want that proper Sydney beach experience without the Bondi circus. The beach is literally a two-minute walk – I timed it – and there’s something really nice about being able to duck down for a swim or a walk whenever you feel like it. The local café scene is surprisingly good too; there’s this little place called Swell that does excellent flat whites, and the fish and chips from the shop near the corner of Marine Parade are honestly some of the best I’ve had. For groceries and basics, you’ve got options within walking distance, and the bus connections into the city are pretty decent – though I’d definitely recommend having a car if you want to explore other beaches or head out to the eastern suburbs properly. The 7.4 rating feels about right to me; it’s not going to blow you away with luxury, but it’s clean, comfortable, and that view really does make up for any minor shortcomings. If you’re looking for an authentic Sydney beach stay without paying Bondi prices, this place delivers exactly what it promises.

  Awesome location, well appointed, good facilities, close to local shops & public transport.
  
  What could be improved: Lack of aircon & flyscreen door, which means on warm nights you need the windows & sliding door open, but it lets in the bugs, not ideal.
  There is a pedestal fan but it rattles when it's on & is not very effective.

  What could be improved: There is no mention of this place being on the fourth floor without a lift. We arrived at the property with luggage with two elders and a pregnant woman.
  There were ants in the bed, no dishwasher or air conditioner and the hot water only lasted 5 min, the sink was also blocked. When contacting the property there was no resolution. Not okay for $600 per night.
