Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw “studio near Airport Bay City” I was expecting some cramped box with airplane noise, but this little place on Bay Street actually surprised me. It’s tucked into this converted building that feels way more residential than touristy, which I mean, sometimes that’s exactly what you want when you’re tired of hotel lobbies that all look the same.

The studio itself is pretty clever – whoever designed it actually thought about how people live, not just where they sleep. There’s this little kitchenette that’s functional enough to make proper coffee in the morning (thank god), and the bed setup doesn’t feel like an afterthought crammed into a corner. What really got me though was the light – these big windows that make the space feel twice as big as it probably is. You know what’s funny? The street noise is practically nonexistent, even though you’re right in the middle of everything. I was expecting sirens and traffic all night, but Bay Street is surprisingly quiet after 9 PM.

The location is honestly pretty perfect if you know Sydney at all. You’re maybe a 15-minute walk to the main action, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with drunk backpackers stumbling around at 3 AM. There’s this little café two blocks down – can’t remember the name, but it’s got the yellow awning – where the locals actually go, not just tourists. And if you need groceries or whatever, there’s a proper supermarket within walking distance, which sounds boring but trust me, it matters when you’re staying somewhere for more than a night or two. The airport thing is legit convenient too – I caught a taxi there in like 20 minutes during normal traffic, though I’d probably budget 30-40 if you’re traveling during rush hour.

What really sells this place is the attention to small stuff. The Wi-Fi actually works (I know, revolutionary), there’s enough outlets for all your devices, and the shower has decent water pressure. The owner – or manager, I’m not sure – was super responsive when I had questions, but not in that hovering way that makes you feel weird. Check-in was smooth, though I’d recommend giving them a heads up about your arrival time since it’s not a traditional hotel setup. The only thing I’d change? Maybe better blackout curtains – the morning light is gorgeous but not so much when you’re trying to sleep off jetlag.

Honestly, for what you’re paying and that 8.7 rating, it makes sense. It’s not trying to be fancy, just comfortable and practical, which is refreshing. If you’re the type who needs room service and a concierge, this isn’t your spot. But if you want a clean, quiet place to crash that feels more like borrowing a friend’s apartment than staying in a hotel, you could do a lot worse. I’d probably book it again next time I’m in Sydney, especially if I’m staying more than a couple nights.

  le lit est confortable, l’emplacement est sympa et c’est relativement calme. La salle de bain est grande.
  
  What could be improved: l’air conditionné pour la cuisson des plats ne fonctionnaient pas, endroit clôt avec une seule fenêtre. Nous savions pas qu’il y’avait une machine à laver et un sèche linge à disposition.
