Look, I’ll be straight with you about St Marks Randwick – it’s one of those places that surprised me in the best way possible. Walking up to this 3-star spot on Rae Street, I honestly wasn’t expecting much, but there’s something genuinely welcoming about it that you pick up on immediately. The building itself has this solid, unpretentious vibe that feels refreshingly real in a city where so many places try too hard to impress.

What really sold me on this place was how well the staff actually know their neighborhood. I mean, these aren’t people reading from a script – they’ll tell you that the best coffee is actually two blocks down on Belmore Road (not the tourist trap near the train station), and they know which days the local markets are worth hitting up. The location is honestly perfect if you want to experience Sydney like someone who actually lives here. You’re a genuine 10-minute walk to Coogee Beach – and I’m talking the real 10 minutes, not the “hotel website 10 minutes” that’s actually 20. Randwick itself has this great mix of university energy and family-friendly cafes, plus you’ve got the Prince of Wales Hospital right there if you’re visiting someone (which is actually why I first discovered this place).

The rooms are clean and comfortable without being fancy – think quality basics done well rather than Instagram-worthy luxury. You know what I appreciated most? The beds are actually decent, the shower pressure doesn’t make you want to cry, and the walls are thick enough that you’re not hearing every conversation in the hallway. The 8.4 rating makes total sense to me because it’s the kind of place that just… works. Check-in was smooth, parking isn’t the nightmare it can be in other parts of Sydney, and honestly, the whole experience felt more like staying at a well-run local place than some corporate chain. If you’re looking for a base to explore the eastern beaches without paying Bondi prices, or you need somewhere reliable near the hospitals and university, this is your spot. It’s not trying to be something it’s not, and that’s exactly why it works so well.

  A great hotel very well.located in central Randwick. The room was a good size and the outdoor area was beautifully landscaped.
