You know what struck me first about this place on Blair Street? It’s actually a proper house – not some cramped apartment conversion like you see everywhere else in Bondi. I mean, when you’re walking down from the main strip (which is maybe a 10-minute stroll, honestly), you hit this residential pocket that feels completely different from the tourist madness up the hill.
The BBQ setup is where this place really shines, and I’m not talking about some sad little balcony grill. There’s genuine outdoor space here – like, you can actually have people over without everyone bumping into each other. The parking situation alone makes it worth considering; anyone who’s driven around Bondi knows finding a spot is basically a contact sport, especially during summer. Having your own space sorted means you can actually explore beyond the immediate area without stressing about coming back to hunt for parking at 2 AM.
What I really appreciated was how the house feels lived-in but not worn down, if that makes sense. It’s got that 4-star comfort level without being sterile – there are enough bedrooms that groups don’t feel cramped, and the kitchen’s actually functional (I’ve stayed in places where you can barely make toast). The location works brilliantly because you’re close enough to walk to Campbell Parade and the beach, but far enough from the main drag that you won’t have drunk backpackers singing under your window at 3 AM. Blair Street itself is pretty quiet – mostly locals and people who know the area well enough to book something off the beaten path.
The 8.5 rating honestly feels about right. It’s not perfect – the house has that slightly aged feel that comes with being in a coastal area, and depending on the time of year, you might catch some noise from the nearby streets during peak season. But for groups or families who want space to spread out and the flexibility to cook your own meals (groceries are right up on Bondi Road), it hits the sweet spot. Plus, having outdoor areas where you can actually relax makes such a difference when you’re dealing with Australia’s weather – you can escape inside when it’s too hot or enjoy the evening air when it’s perfect.
