You know what? I’ve stayed at a lot of hotels in Sydney’s North Shore, and Quest Chatswood actually gets it right in ways that surprised me. It’s tucked away on Albert Avenue – not the main drag where all the chaos happens – which means you can actually sleep at night without hearing every bus and late-night reveler stumbling past. The building itself is modern without being flashy, and honestly, that’s exactly what you want in Chatswood.
The thing about this place is that it feels like they understand business travelers but haven’t forgotten about everyone else. The apartments (because that’s really what they are) have proper kitchens with full-sized fridges, not those sad little bar fridges that can barely hold a bottle of wine. I mean, when you’re staying more than a night or two, having actual counter space and a decent stovetop makes all the difference. The living areas are spacious enough that you don’t feel like you’re camping in a hotel room, and the Wi-Fi is genuinely fast – I worked from there for three days without wanting to throw my laptop out the window.
Location-wise, it’s pretty much perfect if you know the area. You’re a two-minute walk to Chatswood Chase and Westfield, which sounds touristy but is actually brilliant for groceries and decent coffee. The train station is close enough that you can walk it easily, but far enough that you’re not dealing with the morning commuter stampede outside your window. What I really appreciated was how easy it was to get to the city – the express train gets you to Town Hall in about 15 minutes, and parking at the hotel is straightforward if you’re driving (though you’ll pay for it, because this is Sydney after all). The staff seemed to actually live in the area too, which meant they could give you real recommendations instead of just pointing you toward the nearest chain restaurant. There’s this little Vietnamese place around the corner that I never would have found without their suggestion, and honestly, it was better than most of the CBD options I’ve tried. The only thing I’d warn you about is that weekends can get a bit busy with families visiting, so if you’re looking for complete quiet, maybe aim for weekdays.
You need to let the property know what time you'll be arriving in advance.
