Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to 12 Hall Street – it’s this quiet residential block that runs parallel to the beach, and the building looks pretty standard from the outside. But stepping into this second-floor apartment, you’re immediately hit with this gorgeous view that stretches right across Bondi Beach. I mean, you can literally watch the surfers catching waves while you’re making your morning coffee.
The space itself is actually quite thoughtful – two proper bedrooms that don’t feel cramped, which is saying something for Sydney real estate. The main bedroom gets that prime beach view, and honestly, I spent way too much time just sitting by that window watching the early morning joggers and the lifeguards setting up. The living area flows nicely into the kitchen, which has everything you’d actually need (decent coffee machine, thank god, and a proper-sized fridge). What really sold me though was the parking spot – anyone who’s driven around Bondi knows that’s basically gold. You’re about a three-minute walk to the sand, but you’re far enough up Hall Street that you don’t get the absolute chaos of Campbell Parade on weekend nights.
The location is pretty sweet if you know the area. You’re close enough to walk to the Bondi Junction shopping center if you need anything substantial, but you’ve also got that little strip of cafes and the post office right there on Bondi Road. The Bucket List café does incredible breakfast (get there before 9am on weekends), and there’s a decent bottle shop about two blocks away. One thing I appreciated – you get the beach lifestyle without being right in the thick of the backpacker scene down by the Pavilion. The apartment itself felt clean and well-maintained, though the shower pressure could be better (pretty standard for older Sydney buildings, to be fair). The hosts were responsive when I had questions about the TV setup, and check-in was straightforward with a proper lockbox system. If you’re planning to visit during summer, just know that Bondi gets absolutely packed, especially on weekends, but having that parking spot and being up on Hall Street means you can actually escape when you need to. For the price point and that view, it’s honestly solid value for Sydney – I’d definitely come back.
