Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw “Oversized Potts Point Studio” I was expecting maybe just a slightly bigger shoebox with a fancy name. But walking into this place on Orwell Street actually made me do a double-take. The space genuinely feels oversized, and I mean that in the best way possible. You know how most Sydney hotel rooms make you feel like you’re living in a well-appointed closet? This isn’t that.

The location is what really got me though. Orwell Street sits in this sweet spot where you’re close enough to Kings Cross that you can stumble to excellent late-night eats (there’s this Lebanese place around the corner that locals queue for), but far enough from the main strip that you’re not dealing with the weekend chaos. I actually loved the morning walks to Wooloomooloo – it’s maybe eight minutes if you take your time, and you’ll pass some of those gorgeous terrace houses that make Potts Point feel almost village-like despite being smack in the middle of Sydney. The El Alamein Fountain is right there too, which sounds random but it’s actually this lovely little neighborhood gathering spot.

What struck me most was how the place manages to feel both spacious and cozy – there’s enough room to properly unpack (revolutionary concept, I know) and the layout doesn’t feel cramped or awkward like so many studios do. The windows let in proper light, which matters more than you’d think when you’re trying to shake off jet lag. Honestly, the whole setup works whether you’re here for business or just exploring the city. I could easily see staying here for a week without feeling claustrophobic. The noise levels were surprisingly reasonable too – I mean, you’re in Potts Point so there’s street life, but nothing that kept me up at night. Check-in was straightforward, no drama, which after a long flight is exactly what you want. The building itself has that solid, well-maintained feel – not shiny and new, but not tired either. It’s the kind of place where everything just works without being fussy about it. For a 4-star spot with a 9 rating, it delivers on both comfort and that hard-to-define sense of being in a real Sydney neighborhood rather than some tourist bubble.

  Excellent location, comfortable lounge chairs & bed and very spacious for a studio with fantastic artwork & ‘objets d’art’ which made it feel like a home, not just a rental property. Very well equipped with everything you’d need to cook, & to entertain. Decent quality crockery & glasses, & plenty of them.
  
  What could be improved: The studio is on the 2nd floor so there were quite a lot of stairs to carry suitcases up. No windows in the sitting room area – though there’s a glass wall between the sitting room & bedroom and there’s lights coming through the bedroom windows it took a little while to adjust.
