Orange Stay Sydney CBD Overview
Look, I’ll be honest with you – Orange Stay Sydney CBD isn’t going to blow your mind, but it’s one of those places that just works. When I first walked into the lobby on Castlereagh Street, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star joint, but there’s something refreshingly no-nonsense about the whole setup. The staff actually seemed to care, which you know what, is pretty rare these days in CBD hotels.
The location is honestly the real winner here. I mean, you’re literally in the thick of everything – Hyde Park is like a two-minute walk if you need to escape the city chaos, and you can easily wander over to Martin Place or catch the train at Town Hall without breaking a sweat. What I really appreciated was how you could duck into David Jones or Myers for shopping, then come back and actually rest without feeling like you’re staying in some tourist trap. The rooms are… well, they’re clean and functional. Not Instagram-worthy or anything, but the bed was comfortable enough, and the bathroom had decent water pressure (trust me, that matters after a long day walking around Sydney). The walls are a bit thin though – I could hear my neighbors chatting around 11 PM, but it wasn’t terrible.
Here’s what I wish someone had told me before booking: the elevators can be painfully slow during peak hours, and there’s construction happening on a nearby building that starts up around 7 AM. But honestly, if you’re planning to be out exploring anyway, it’s not a deal-breaker. The breakfast situation is pretty basic – think continental style with decent coffee – but there are so many great cafes within walking distance that I’d probably skip it and grab something from one of those little spots on Elizabeth Street instead. For the price point, especially considering you’re staying right in the CBD, it’s actually solid value. I’ve stayed at pricier places in Sydney that felt way more impersonal. The front desk helped me figure out the best way to get to Circular Quay without getting lost in the underground maze, and they stored my luggage after checkout so I could squeeze in one more afternoon at the Royal Botanic Gardens. If you’re looking for luxury, keep looking – but if you want a clean, centrally located base for exploring Sydney without spending a fortune, Orange Stay does the job pretty well.

Perfect minus the price and extra charges – Gemima from Australia – 16 June 2025 (8/10)
Great in every way – location, facilities etc.
What could be improved: Too expensive to bring with them adding a $100 late check in fee and a $500 security deposit which took over a week to get backGreat location – Darren from Australia – 31 March 2025 (8/10)
Great location and close to public transport. Nice little balcony and good facilities.
What could be improved: Unfortunately the apartment is very close to a major fire station and the alarms sounded through most nights. The windows are not double glazed and it was very noisy at night.Enjoyably interesting – John from Australia – 19 March 2025 (7/10)

Great location – Caitlin from Australia – 26 November 2024 (7/10)
Excellent location and good facilities. Able to stay with a friend and feel separate with the x2 bedrooms and x2 bathrooms
What could be improved: The only negative is that the street noise is very loud and it is next to a fire station. Bring earplugs! But that is the trade off for being in the heart of the cbdVery good – Ellenor from Australia – 8 November 2024 (8/10)
What could be improved: There was no toilet paper and we had to wait to get our keys

What could be improved: I couldn't get out onto the balcony, and didn't know it was right next to a fire station, lolVery good – Rosemary from Australia – 13 August 2024 (8/10)
What could be improved: It was next to the fire station and there was construction being done into the early hours of the morning.
There were no privacy blinds on the windows.
