Hotel Description

Look, I’ll be straight with you about this place on Little Mount Street – it’s one of those finds that actually lives up to the hype, which honestly surprised me. The name’s a bit of a mouthful (Oasis 4BR House & Darling Harbour&Casino-7 mins walk), but whoever named it wasn’t kidding about that seven-minute walk. I timed it, and yeah, you can absolutely stroll to Star City Casino in about that time, maybe five if you’re moving with purpose.

The house itself sits in this quiet pocket of Pyrmont that most tourists never stumble across – you know, the residential bit that feels almost village-like despite being smack in the middle of Sydney. Four proper bedrooms, which is pretty rare for this area, and the whole setup actually feels like someone’s well-loved home rather than a sterile rental. The kitchen’s got that lived-in quality where you can tell people have cooked proper meals, not just reheated takeaway. There’s decent natural light throughout, though the back bedrooms get a bit dim in the afternoons – not a dealbreaker, just something to keep in mind if you’re planning to work from the space.

What really won me over, though, was the location smarts. You’re tucked away enough that you won’t hear the casino crowds or the Darling Harbour tourist chaos, but close enough that you can duck out for a harbour walk whenever the mood strikes. The local IGA is literally around the corner – I mean, you can see it from the front windows – and there’s this little café on Jones Street that does excellent flat whites if you’re not in the mood to make coffee. Parking’s actually manageable here, which anyone who’s dealt with Sydney CBD will tell you is basically a minor miracle. The street’s got that mix of old terrace houses and newer developments, so it doesn’t feel too precious but isn’t rough around the edges either.

The 8.2 rating makes sense once you’ve stayed here for a few days. It’s not flashy or Instagram-perfect, but everything works properly and the space breathes well with four people. The main bedroom’s got decent storage, the bathroom’s been updated without losing character, and honestly, the whole place just feels comfortable in a way that a lot of rentals don’t manage. My only real gripe – and this is minor – is that the Wi-Fi gets a bit patchy in the back rooms, though it’s fine for streaming in the main living area. Also, if you’re planning to stay during Vivid or New Year’s, book way ahead because places like this in Pyrmont get snapped up fast. The neighbourhood transforms during those events, and you’ll have front-row seats to the best of Sydney without paying harbour-view hotel prices.

Reviews

  • Accommodation was great and booked last minute due to missing cruise ship – Jodie from Australia – 31 July 2024 (8/10)

    Close and affordable

    What could be improved: Stairs

  • Very good – Tamara from Australia – 16 June 2025 (8/10)

    Close to pubs and shops

What could be improved: Please get different pillows, they were awful

  • Great convenient location. – Lizzyloo67 from Australia – 11 June 2025 (8/10)

The 4 bedrooms really met our needs for us to have shared family time.

    Central & very convenient location

    Comfortable beds & great pillows

What could be improved: Bathrooms could have been cleaner.
    Furniture is tired.

  • LITTLE MOUNT STREET ACCOMMODATION – Kim from Australia – 18 May 2025 (8/10)

    good location

What could be improved: the STAIRS!! Only had a bannister half way, we found it difficult to use, for those sleeping upstairs we dreaded the climb up and down. Felt very unsafe. Ok if you're young but not for over 50s

  • Very good – Ball from Australia – 14 April 2025 (8/10)

I would next time take a top sheet, my own towel and pillow, but apart from that it was great!

  • Great location – Kate from Australia – 23 March 2025 (8/10)

The location was great and we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go for the weekend. The hosts were very accommodating in allowing us to bag drop our bags so we didn't have to drag them to our matinee at the lyric theatre. We were very grateful for that. The house was clean and tidy and had all the space we needed. We walked into cool, clean accommodation.

What could be improved: The home didn't state it had so many stairs.. it certainly isn't suitable for anyone with limited mobility. The linen was of average Ikea style quality. The pillows were hard and uncomfortable. There was no option for additional pillows either. It would have been nice to have had a small container of milk and regular tea as a welcome.

  • Good – Cassie from Australia – 9 March 2025 (7/10)

Nice and tidy and enough rooms to sleep big family

What could be improved: The pillows and bedding isn’t comfortable also that we went out for breaky and when we can back people/owners were already inside before our late check out which is 11am bit odd

  • Overall, a wonderful stay . – Marilyn from United States – 8 March 2025 (8/10)

Location is excellent and place is beautifully decorated and maintained.

What could be improved: Not senior friendly, needs more Ac units in other bedrooms. So with mirrors too .

  • perfect house for what our group needed and great value for location. Shame about the odor in the bathroom though 😞 – Steph from New Zealand – 19 November 2024 (8/10)

location was great, nice and close to shops and restaurants

What could be improved: there was a strong smell of cat urine in the upstairs bathroom, outdoor furniture was very average.

  • Good – Andy from United Kingdom – 3 September 2024 (7/10)

Good location within walking distance of Darling Harbour and The Rocks. This was ideal for our group.

What could be improved: The house was cramped for 8 adults with only two decent sized double bedrooms. The 3rd bedroom has no storage space and very little floor space, and the 4th bedroom has only a single bed.
