No 9 Springfield Overview

You know what struck me first about No 9 Springfield? It’s tucked away on this quiet residential street that feels completely removed from the chaos of Kings Cross – and I mean that in the best way possible. When people hear “Kings Cross,” they usually think red light district and backpacker madness, but Springfield Avenue is actually this lovely tree-lined pocket where you can hear birds in the morning instead of sirens. The building itself has this understated boutique vibe – nothing flashy, just clean lines and that kind of effortless Sydney style that doesn’t try too hard.

The location is honestly perfect if you know Sydney at all. You’re literally a five-minute walk to Kings Cross station, which means you can be in the CBD in ten minutes or at Circular Quay in fifteen. But here’s the thing locals know – you can also walk to Potts Point’s café strip on Macleay Street, and trust me, that’s where you want to be grabbing your morning coffee anyway. The Yellow Bistro is right around the corner, and there’s this little grocery store that stays open late when you need basics. I actually found the whole area surprisingly quiet at night, even on weekends. Maybe it’s because you’re just far enough from the main Darlinghurst Road strip that you avoid most of the foot traffic.

What really won me over was how the staff actually seemed to know the neighborhood – not just the touristy stuff, but like, which ferry routes are running when there’s track work, or where to find decent takeaway when everything else is closed. The rooms themselves are what you’d expect from a solid 3.5-star place – clean, comfortable, with those big windows that let in heaps of natural light. I mean, it’s not luxury, but everything works and the beds are actually decent quality. The bathrooms are compact but well-designed, and honestly, the water pressure was better than some pricier hotels I’ve stayed at in the city.

One small thing that might matter – there’s street parking if you’re driving, but it’s mostly metered during the day. The front desk mentioned a parking garage about two blocks away that’s cheaper for longer stays. Also, if you’re a light sleeper, maybe request a room away from Springfield Avenue itself – not that it’s noisy, but you’ll occasionally hear cars in the early morning. The whole place has this relaxed, almost residential feel that makes it easy to settle in for more than just a night or two. It’s the kind of spot where you can actually imagine living like a local for a bit, rather than just passing through.

Reviews of No 9 Springfield

  • Comfortable hotel in excellent location. – Marie-louise from Australia – 14 July 2025 (8/10)

We really liked the room itself, it was beautifully refurbished and the room facilities were all in excellent condition with a very comfortable bed and spacious bathroom. We were upgraded to a room on the first floor of the property overlooking the street which unfortunately was extremely noisy at night and we didn't get a lot of sleep, due to street noise and the people in the room above making a lot of noise above us from 7 am! This put a damper on our stay. We would stay again but next time request a room on the top floor away from the street.

What could be improved: Noise at night was excessive.

  • Staff were friendly and welcoming, the places was cozy and welcoming, and location was great definitely coming back here – Mcbean from Australia – 11 July 2025 (7/10)

I love how nice the staff were, place was close to many activities and the hotel was cosy, very nice and friendly!

What could be improved: The construction was a little loud, and if you can recommend some blinds the black out the light at night time , besides that the places was amazing !

  • A great spot in Potts Point – Lora from United States – 6 July 2025 (9/10)

Good enough to book a second night.

  • Good Hotel in the heart of Sydney – Gerard from Australia – 4 July 2025 (9/10)

The location was great and easy access to Kings Cross station. The Staff was very accomodating. There was construction nearby so they upgraded my room to a size bigger to avoid noise and I appreciate it.

What could be improved: Unfortunately because of the construction there was no laundry on house but its not really a big issue. The bathroom was a bit small but doable.

  • Very good – Neisha from Australia – 30 June 2025 (8/10)

The location is very central with easy access to restaurants/metro ect. The room was very clean with big windows and nice service!

  • great location great front bar – Kerry from Australia – 29 June 2025 (8/10)

awesome location, fear accom with the front patio restaurant

  • Superb – Jo from Australia – 28 June 2025 (9/10)

The location is very convenient with walking distance to sooo much.

What could be improved: The bathroom was very small and squashed.

  • Great location, very charming hotel! – Diane from Australia – 23 June 2025 (8/10)

The property is situated in a prime location, parking station is in close proximity. The building is very charming & the bed was extremely comfortable. Good value for the location.

What could be improved: The only drawback is the small bathroom, with not much hot water in the shower & you can hear the neighbours through the walls.

  • Overall all my satay at No:9 Springfield was excellent. – Andrew from Australia – 22 June 2025 (9/10)

I stayed for four nights in an extremely clean room. The facilities are great and the staff are professional and eager to assist you with your stay at this establishment. I have been to this venue several times and highly recommend anyone to stay there while they are in Sydney. My overall rating is OUTSTANDING!

What could be improved: I only problem was that certain guests hog the washing machines and dryers for a very long period of time. There should be a set time with a poster informing guests that there is a specific time frame and to be mindful of other guests that may wish to use the washing facilities. Certain guests left their items in the washing machines and dryers for several hours. I actually witnessed that and informed the staff.

  • Superb – Liz from Australia – 17 June 2025 (9/10)

Beds were very comfortable and loved having Dedys cafe at the front. Fabulous breakfast and coffees.

What could be improved: Laundry facilities were very ordinary but they are now closed for renovations so that should improve.
