Hotel Description
Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of Sydney accommodations, and this three-bedroom condo at Olympic Park actually surprised me in the best way. When I first pulled up to 1 Paddock Street, I wasn’t expecting much – I mean, Olympic Park can feel a bit isolated if you don’t know the area. But honestly? That turned out to be one of its biggest advantages. You get this rare thing in Sydney: actual space to breathe, plus a parking spot that doesn’t cost you a kidney.
The condo itself feels like someone’s well-maintained home rather than a sterile hotel room, which I really appreciated after bouncing between cookie-cutter places in the CBD. The kitchen’s properly equipped – not just a mini-fridge and microwave situation – so you can actually cook if you want to save some cash or just fancy a quiet night in. What really sold me was the complex’s facilities, though. The pool area becomes this little oasis in the evenings, and the gym is surprisingly decent with proper equipment, not just a sad treadmill in a basement somewhere. I found myself using both way more than I expected.
You know what’s funny? Everyone assumes Olympic Park is this dead zone after the 2000 Olympics, but it’s actually become this interesting pocket of Sydney. Sure, it’s not Bondi or The Rocks, but you’re a quick train ride from Central Station, and there’s something refreshing about not being surrounded by tourist crowds 24/7. The nearby Bicentennial Park is perfect for morning runs – I’d watch families setting up barbecues while joggers and cyclists did their thing. Plus, if you’re into sports or concerts, ANZ Stadium and Qudos Bank Arena are literally walking distance. I stayed during a major concert weekend, and while I could hear the distant bass from the venue, it wasn’t intrusive – just added to the atmosphere, really.
The building itself runs pretty smoothly – decent elevator, clean common areas, and the kind of quiet you forget exists in a city this size. My only minor gripe was that the WiFi could be a bit patchy in the bedrooms, though it worked fine in the main living area. Check-in was straightforward, and the whole place felt secure without being overly corporate about it. Honestly, for families or groups who want space to spread out without paying Sydney hotel prices, this place hits a sweet spot. You get the privacy of your own place, proper amenities, and you’re still connected to everything that matters in Sydney – just without the chaos of staying right in the thick of it.
