You know what struck me first about Namely Manly? The name’s a bit cheeky, but it actually fits – this place sits right in the heart of one of Sydney’s most laid-back beach suburbs, and there’s something refreshingly unpretentious about the whole setup. It’s tucked away on Central Avenue, which honestly is perfect because you’re close enough to walk to the beach in about three minutes, but far enough from the Corso’s weekend chaos that you can actually get some sleep.

The apartment itself (it’s unit 603, so you’ll have decent views) feels like staying at a friend’s place who has pretty good taste and definitely knows how to make guests comfortable. I mean, it’s not trying to be the Shangri-La or anything – the 4-star rating is spot on, and that 7.8 score makes sense when you consider you’re getting solid comfort without the bells and whistles. The kitchen’s actually functional, which is huge if you’re planning to grab fresh seafood from the markets or just want to avoid paying $25 for breakfast every morning. The bed’s comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been wrestling with a mattress all night, and the bathroom’s got that satisfying shower pressure that somehow half the hotels in Sydney seem to struggle with.

What I really appreciated was how they’ve nailed the location without making a big deal about it. You’re literally a two-minute walk to the ferry wharf – and honestly, taking that ferry into Circular Quay beats dealing with parking in the city any day. The beach is right there, obviously, but what’s even better is you’re close to the good stuff locals actually use. There’s a decent coffee spot just around the corner (not the touristy places on the Corso), and the IGA for groceries is close enough that you don’t need to plan a whole expedition. Parking was actually manageable, which – if you’ve ever tried to find a spot in Manly on a sunny Saturday – you’ll know is basically a minor miracle. The whole setup just works well if you want to feel like you’re living in Sydney rather than just visiting it. Sure, it’s not going to blow your mind with luxury touches, but sometimes what you really want is a clean, comfortable place where everything functions properly and you don’t have to think too hard about logistics. That’s exactly what Namely Manly delivers.

  Absolutely fantastic location to truly make you feel like a local.

  What could be improved: There isn’t much privacy between the bathroom and the bedroom, with only a glass sliding door (and curtain) between the toilet and the bed.

  The bed was comfy, the bathroom was modern and clean, had everything we needed in a great location, so easy to walk to the beach or wharf. In a quiet road, no traffic noise. Hair dryer & toiletries provided. My grown up daughter used the sofa bed which she said was comfy but takes up a lot of the lounge. Lovely area with shops bars & restaurants. Lovely vibe in Manly, easy 20 mi utes on the ferry to Sydney harbour.
  
  What could be improved: The free standing air con unit was very noisy so although we needed it to keep the room cool at night, it did wake us up with the noise. The apartment looked bigger in the photos in my opinion, the lounge kitchenette is quite compact. I went to do some laundry one day but found you have to have $3 said dollar coins & I didn’t even use cash the whole holiday. The corridor outside the apartment could smell of dogs at times & people cooking, but then they do accept dogs in this building which may be a plus point for some people. We don’t use the terrace as it was shady in the evening but the views were lovely from up there

  A very central location. Just a short walk to everywhere in Manly. Great shower and a good supply of toiletries, cleaning items, tea, coffee, etc.

  Location was excellent and host extremely helpful when trying to open difficult lock box. The apartment was modern & decoration was most appealing. The bed was comfortable, bed linen soft and snug. There was a good variety of cooking utensils etc. The entrance via the Short St Plaza was more appealing than from Central Avenue where the lock box is.
  
  What could be improved: We would have liked a small table and a couple of chairs where we could eat our meals. We also had some difficulty turning off the TV screen which remained on with a still pic after had watched a program (but maybe we are unused to this kind of Smart TV! )
