Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to this place on Brushbox Street, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. The name “Modern apartment+office w Parking @ Olympic Park” sounds like someone threw keywords into a blender, but you know what? It actually describes the place perfectly. It’s this sleek, no-nonsense setup that feels more like staying at a friend’s well-designed apartment than a traditional hotel.

The whole Olympic Park area has this interesting vibe – sort of quiet and residential, but with all these massive sports venues lurking around the corner. You’re literally a stone’s throw from ANZ Stadium (okay, I know they keep changing the name, but locals still call it ANZ), and honestly, that’s either going to be amazing or slightly annoying depending on what’s happening there during your stay. I mean, if there’s a huge concert or game, you’ll hear it, but the trade-off is you can literally walk to major events. The apartment itself sits in this cluster of modern buildings that went up after the Olympics – everything’s clean lines and glass, very 2000s Australian architecture. What I really appreciated was the parking situation, and I can’t stress this enough if you’re driving in Sydney – having a guaranteed spot is worth its weight in gold. None of that circling the block nonsense or paying $40 a day for hotel parking.

Inside, it’s got that minimalist thing going on without feeling cold or sterile. The office space component is actually pretty clever – there’s a proper desk setup with decent lighting, which saved my life when I had to jump on some work calls. The kitchen’s functional (not just a mini-fridge and coffee maker situation), and the washing machine was a game-changer for a longer stay. The whole place feels like it was designed by someone who actually travels for work and knows what you need. Now, it’s not fancy – we’re talking 3-star territory here, so don’t expect marble bathrooms or turndown service. But everything works, it’s clean, and there’s this practical efficiency to it that I found refreshing after staying in places that prioritize Instagram-worthy decor over actual comfort. The building’s pretty quiet most of the time, though you’ll get the occasional train rumble from the Olympic Park station – which, by the way, gets you into the city in about 30 minutes. The area itself is kind of fascinating if you’re into that post-Olympic urban planning thing. There are all these wide boulevards and parks that feel slightly empty most days, but then you stumble onto the weekend farmers market or catch families using the bike paths, and it comes alive. It’s definitely not Kings Cross or Bondi – this is suburban Sydney, but the functional, well-planned kind.

Here’s the thing: if you want to be in the thick of Sydney’s nightlife and tourist action, you’ll be commuting. But if you need space to actually get stuff done, don’t want to deal with city hotel prices, and maybe you’re catching an event at one of the venues, this place makes a lot of sense. It’s honest about what it is, and sometimes that’s exactly what you need.

    Location perfect for swim competition in the Olympic park. Comfy stay and good view.

    What could be improved: Stovetops didn't have gas/wasn't working so was unable to cook pasta/rice. Only had small multipurpose cooker which was inconvenient for cooking proper meals.

    What could be improved: I couldn't get into the building to get the room key. Had to be let in by some stranger.
    Tea cup broke and spilled tea on bench. Nothing to clean it up with.
    No coffee table so having a beverage while watching TV was a problem.

    What could be improved: Had to wait outside until a resident allowed us to follow them in – to gain access to the mail box for the key to get in. The bed was thin, lumpy & somewhat uncomfortable. The place could use a coffee table & end table. The “office” room was not useable

    Wifi, no physical contact check in and large, with balcony and access is okay. Last minute booking though and the host was very accommodating. It was tidy but some things were not perfectly cleaned like many other stays we’ve been at before. It’s a great overnight layover if you need something with flexible hosts.

    What could be improved: Instructions to find the accomodation proved to be difficult, parking isn’t easy – once you’re underground we lost phone service and couldn’t see pictures in app. Had to drive out to see them then come back in.
