Hotel Description

Look, I’ve stayed in my fair share of Sydney hotels, and Millers Point Home Harbourside is honestly one of those places that gets it right without trying too hard. You know that feeling when you walk into a place and immediately think “yeah, this works”? That’s exactly what happened here on Bettington Street.

The thing about Millers Point is – and locals will tell you this – it’s got this village-y feel that’s completely different from the rest of the CBD. You’re literally a five-minute walk from Circular Quay, but somehow it feels like you’ve stepped into this quieter pocket of old Sydney. The hotel sits perfectly in this context, actually. It’s not trying to be some flashy harbourside resort (thank god), but more like a really well-appointed home that happens to have killer views. And I mean killer – you can see the Opera House and Harbour Bridge from certain rooms, which honestly never gets old, even if you’re a Sydney person like me.

What I really appreciated was how they’ve thought about the details without being precious about it. The rooms have that crisp, clean aesthetic but with enough character that you don’t feel like you’re sleeping in a catalog. Check-in was smooth – no standing around waiting while they “prepare your experience” or whatever. The staff actually seem to know the neighborhood too, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how rare that is. They pointed me toward Bulletin Place for coffee (smart choice) and mentioned that the Saturday markets at The Rocks are literally around the corner, which… well, if you know, you know.

Parking can be a bit tricky in Millers Point generally – it’s all narrow streets and resident permits – but they’ve sorted that out, so you don’t have to do the Sydney CBD parking dance. The area does get busy during the day with tourists heading to the harbour stuff, but it quiets down beautifully in the evenings. Actually, that’s when the location really shines. You can walk down to the water at sunset and have these incredible views without fighting crowds, then wander back through the cobblestone streets feeling like you’ve discovered some secret part of the city.

I stayed during a pretty busy period in summer, and the rooms stayed cool and quiet despite being so close to everything. The whole place has this relaxed confidence – like they know they’re in a great spot with solid bones, so they don’t need to oversell it. Sometimes hotels in prime locations get lazy because, well, location. But this place actually delivers on the promise of that 9.5 rating. It’s the kind of spot where you end up extending your stay if you can, just because leaving feels unnecessarily complicated when you’re this comfortable.

Reviews

  • Beautifully kept heritage house in a great location that is walking distance to pubs, cafes, restaurants, the rocks and – David from Australia – 8 July 2025 (10/10)

Perfect Location to walk everywhere, well equipped kitchen with everything we needed. Beautifully appointed and well maintained heritage terrace house. Beds were very luxurious and comfortable. Amazing outdoor courtyard area with fire pit.

What could be improved: Nothing it was all amazing. If I had to mention anything it would be the annoying alarm from the apartment building across the laneway that kept going off every 5 mins. Made it difficult for some of us to get to sleep.

  • Loved the place. Would definitely stay there again – Melissa from Australia – 14 June 2025 (9/10)

Location is 5 minutes walk to the circular quay and to Barangaroo station. Quiet

What could be improved: There is no indoor eating table, only an outdoor table. The stairs are difficult to go up and down so difficult to go to the toilet at night as there is no toilet upstairs where the bedrooms are

Amazing location, property was spacious and clean. Comfortable beds and beautiful backyard. Highly recommend staying here on either leisure or a work trip ! Walking distance to the train station, cafes and bars.

What could be improved: There was only one work desk, bit tricky with 3 people on a work trip.
