Look, I’ve stayed at my fair share of places in Sydney’s CBD, and this little studio on Dixon Street honestly surprised me. The name’s a bit of a mouthful – MetaWiseBnB Studio Dixon Next to ICC & Darling Harbour 31 – but don’t let that put you off. What you’re getting here is basically a smart, no-nonsense crash pad that’s ridiculously well-positioned for exploring the city.

The thing about Dixon Street is it’s right in the thick of Chinatown, which means you’re surrounded by some of the best late-night eats in Sydney. I mean, you can literally roll out of bed and grab proper dumplings at 11 PM if that’s your thing. But here’s what I really loved – you’re also just a quick walk to Darling Harbour (hence the name), and the ICC is practically next door. Actually walked past it every morning on my coffee run. The studio itself is compact but thoughtfully laid out, and honestly, the 4-star rating feels about right. It’s not luxury, but everything works and it’s clean, which is more than I can say for some places I’ve crashed in the CBD.

You know what really sold me on this place? The location means you can walk to Central Station in about 10 minutes, but you’re also close enough to the harbor that you don’t feel trapped in the concrete jungle. Plus – and this is something most people don’t think about – being on Dixon Street means you’re sort of tucked away from the main tourist chaos on George Street, but still central enough that nothing’s really out of reach. The building itself is modern enough that the Wi-Fi actually works (always a gamble in Sydney), and I didn’t have any issues with street noise, which honestly shocked me given how central it is. Check-in was pretty straightforward too, though I’d recommend confirming the exact process beforehand since these boutique places sometimes have their own way of doing things. The 8/10 rating seems fair – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it delivers exactly what it promises: a solid base for exploring Sydney without the premium price tag of the big hotel chains down the street.
