Meriton Suites North Sydney
Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of places in Sydney over the years, and Meriton Suites North Sydney honestly surprised me. When you first walk into the lobby on Arthur Street, it’s got that sleek, modern vibe without being sterile – you know what I mean? The staff actually seemed happy to be there, which is refreshing after some of the cookie-cutter experiences I’ve had elsewhere.
What really sold me on this place was the apartment-style setup. I mean, having a proper kitchen and laundry in your room changes everything when you’re staying more than a night or two. The view from the higher floors is pretty spectacular – you’re looking right across the harbor toward the Opera House and Bridge, and honestly, it never gets old. The rooms are spacious in a way that’s rare for Sydney, and the beds are actually comfortable (I’m picky about this stuff). One thing that caught me off guard was how quiet it is, considering you’re right in the heart of North Sydney. The double glazing really works.
The location is where this place really shines though. You’re literally a three-minute walk to North Sydney station, which makes getting around the city ridiculously easy. But here’s what most visitors don’t realize – North Sydney has this great café culture that’s way more relaxed than the CBD madness. There’s this little coffee spot called Campos just down the street that locals swear by, and the weekend markets at the Oval are actually worth checking out. Parking can be a bit of a nightmare in the surrounding streets during weekdays (typical North Sydney), but the hotel’s valet service takes care of that headache. I stayed here during both peak tourist season and quieter months, and the service remained consistently good – no drop-off when things got busy, which tells you something about how they run the place. The only minor gripe I had was that the air conditioning can be a bit noisy if you’re a light sleeper, but honestly, with harbor views like these and the convenience of having everything you need right in your room, it’s pretty hard to complain.
