Meriton Suites George Street, Parramatta
Look, I’ve stayed at plenty of places in Parramatta, and honestly? The Meriton Suites on George Street hits that sweet spot where you’re right in the thick of things but not dealing with the chaos of Sydney CBD. When I walked in, the lobby actually felt modern and clean – not trying too hard to be fancy, just well-maintained in that way that makes you think “okay, they know what they’re doing here.”
The suites themselves are what sold me on this place. I mean, you’re getting proper apartment-style living with a kitchen that’s actually functional (not just a sad mini-fridge and microwave situation). The 4-star rating feels right – it’s not going to blow your mind with luxury, but everything works and feels fresh. What I really appreciated was the space; you know how most hotel rooms make you feel like you’re living in a shoebox? Not here. You can actually spread out, and if you’re traveling with family or staying for work, having that separate living area makes a huge difference. The windows are decent too – depending on which way you’re facing, you might catch some nice views toward the river or over the city.
Location-wise, you’re literally walking distance to Westfield Parramatta, which is handy for groceries or whatever you need. The train station is maybe a 5-minute walk, so getting into the city is pretty straightforward – though honestly, Parramatta’s got enough going on that you might not need to venture into Sydney as much as you’d think. Church Street’s restaurant scene has really picked up, and you’re close enough to wander over there for dinner without it being a whole production. Parking can be a bit of a dance around this area (it’s street parking mostly), but the hotel sorts that out for you. I noticed it gets pretty quiet at night despite being on George Street – the traffic dies down after business hours, so you’re not dealing with constant noise. The 8.6 rating makes sense to me; it’s reliable, comfortable, and the staff actually seem to care about doing their jobs well rather than just going through the motions. If you’re looking for somewhere that feels more like a temporary home than a typical hotel room, especially if you’re staying more than a night or two, this place delivers without breaking the bank.
