Meriton Suites Chatswood
Look, I’ve stayed at my fair share of Sydney hotels, and Meriton Suites Chatswood actually surprised me in the best way. You know how sometimes you book a place outside the CBD thinking you’re settling for something decent but boring? Well, this isn’t that. The building itself is pretty sleek – modern glass and steel that fits right into Chatswood’s evolving skyline – and honestly, the location on Albert Avenue is kind of perfect if you know the area. You’re literally a two-minute walk from Chatswood Chase and maybe four minutes to the train station, which means you can be in the city in fifteen minutes or hit up the night markets at Eastwood without the tourist crowds.
What really got me was the apartment-style setup. I mean, these aren’t hotel rooms – they’re proper suites with full kitchens, separate living areas, and laundry facilities that actually work well. The kitchen has real appliances, not those tiny bar fridges you usually get, so I could grab groceries from the Woolworths downstairs at Chatswood Chase and cook actual meals. The living room has floor-to-ceiling windows that give you either city views or glimpses of the harbor if you’re lucky with your room assignment. The whole place feels more like a fancy apartment than a hotel, which is exactly what you want for longer stays. And the beds? Ridiculously comfortable – I’m talking about the kind of mattress that makes you seriously consider asking where they got it.
The staff seem to actually care about what they’re doing, which isn’t always a given with apartment-style hotels. Check-in was smooth, they knew the local area well enough to give decent restaurant recommendations (definitely hit up the Japanese places on Victoria Avenue), and maintenance requests got handled quickly. Parking is there but it’ll cost you – though honestly, you might not need a car much since the transport connections are solid. The pool and gym are decent sized for a hotel, nothing spectacular but they do the job. I will say the place can get a bit busy during school holidays since families love the apartment setup, but it’s never felt chaotic. The soundproofing between units is pretty good too – I barely heard my neighbors except for the occasional elevator ding. If you’re looking for that Sydney experience without paying CBD prices, and you want space to actually live rather than just sleep, this place delivers. It’s got that five-star polish but feels lived-in rather than stuffy, if that makes sense.
Guests are required to show a photo ID and credit card at check-in.
