Meriton Suites Bondi Junction
You know what struck me first about Meriton Suites Bondi Junction? The elevator ride up – and I mean that in the best way possible. There’s something about being whisked up to your suite that immediately signals you’re in for a different kind of stay. The building itself sits right on Grafton Street, which honestly is perfect because you’re literally above the Westfield shopping center. I mean, step outside and you’ve got everything from Woolworths for your groceries to David Jones if you’re feeling fancy. But here’s the thing most people don’t realize – Bondi Junction is actually the transport hub for getting to the beach. The train station is maybe a three-minute walk, and from there it’s just one stop to Bondi Beach. Way easier than fighting traffic and parking nightmares down at the beach itself.
The suites themselves are… well, they’re proper suites, not those hotel rooms that pretend to be apartments. Full kitchen with a dishwasher (thank god), separate living area, and the bedrooms actually have doors that close – crucial if you’re traveling with kids or friends who snore. The laundry setup is clutch too, especially if you’re doing the typical Sydney thing of beach days followed by nice dinners. I’ve stayed in plenty of serviced apartments that feel sterile, but these manage to feel lived-in without being worn down. The views vary depending on which side you’re on, but even if you don’t get the harbor glimpse, the city views are pretty solid. One minor thing though – the walls aren’t super thick, so if you get stuck next to a family with early-rising toddlers, you’ll know about it.
What really sets this place apart is how it handles that tricky balance between hotel service and apartment independence. There’s actual concierge service when you need it, but you’re not paying resort prices for every little thing. The gym is decent – not huge, but it’s got proper equipment and it’s usually empty in the mornings. Parking is available but it’ll cost you, which is pretty standard for this area. Honestly, though, you might not need a car much. The bus routes from right outside will get you to Circular Quay, and there’s something satisfying about taking the train to Bondi Beach like a local instead of doing the tourist drive. The staff seem to actually know the area too – I got better restaurant recommendations from the front desk than from most travel blogs. It’s that kind of place where you can hole up and work if you need to, but you’re also perfectly positioned to explore. The 8.3 rating feels about right – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it’s going to do everything well without any nasty surprises.
