Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to 15 Lachlan Avenue, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But honestly? This Macquarie Treetops apartment totally surprised me. You know what struck me first? The name actually makes sense – you’re literally looking out at treetops from that third floor perch, and it’s kind of magical in the mornings when the light filters through all that greenery.
The 2-bedroom setup is properly spacious, not like those cramped hotel rooms where you’re tripping over your suitcase. I mean, you’ve got a real kitchen here – and I actually used it, which says something since I’m usually too lazy to cook while traveling. The whole place feels lived-in rather than sterile, if that makes sense. There’s this comfortable, slightly worn-around-the-edges vibe that I actually prefer to those pristine but soulless hotel chains. The furniture’s decent enough, nothing fancy but functional, and the beds are surprisingly comfortable (though the second bedroom’s a bit snug if you’re tall).
What really sold me on this place is the location – Macquarie Park is one of those areas that locals know but tourists often miss. You’re basically in Sydney’s tech hub, so there’s this interesting energy during the week with all the office workers, then it gets pleasantly quiet on weekends. The train station’s maybe a 10-minute walk, and once you’re on that line, you’re connected to everything – the city, the beaches, wherever. I loved that I could grab proper coffee at the little café strip nearby (not just hotel lobby swill), and there’s actually decent Asian food within walking distance since this area has a pretty solid Korean and Chinese community.
Parking was easier than I expected – there’s a spot included, which honestly saves you a fortune in Sydney. The check-in process was smooth, no drama, though the building itself is pretty standard modern apartment block stuff. Nothing Instagram-worthy, but clean and well-maintained. You’ll hear some traffic noise from Lachlan Avenue if you’re sensitive to that sort of thing, but it’s not horrible – just typical urban background hum that you tune out after the first night.
The 7.7 rating feels about right to me – it’s not going to blow your mind, but it delivers exactly what it promises. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if I was in Sydney for more than just a quick tourist dash. It’s got that sweet spot pricing where you’re not paying premium rates but you’re not roughing it either. Perfect if you want to actually live a bit like a local rather than being stuck in the tourist bubble downtown.

Very friendly host.
The unit was a bit old style, but very clean, and when I entered the front door, I could feel the owner's considering heart for the guests.
The scenery looking down from the balcony was like seeing a small forest, and I was able to meet a cockatoo who was charming like a puppy.
It was close to Macquarie Shopping Center so I could buy the items I needed and close to the metro station, so it is easy to move to other areas.
