You know what really struck me about Little Manly Getaway? It’s tucked away on Stuart Street in this perfect spot where you’re close enough to hear the ocean but far enough back that you’re not dealing with the weekend crowds stumbling past your window at 2am. I mean, Manly can get pretty hectic during summer – especially around the Corso – but this place feels like you’ve found this quiet pocket that somehow the masses haven’t discovered yet.
The building itself is one of those converted heritage places that actually got the renovation right, if you know what I mean. You walk in and there’s this immediate sense that someone really thought about the details – the timber floors have character without being creaky, and they’ve kept enough of the original features that it doesn’t feel like a sterile modern box. My room had these gorgeous high ceilings and windows that let in this amazing morning light, which honestly made getting up early to hit the beach way less painful than usual. The kitchen setup is surprisingly well-equipped too – I was expecting the usual tiny apartment fridge and dodgy hotplate situation, but they’ve actually got decent appliances. Perfect for when you grab fresh seafood from the markets and want to cook it properly rather than relying on takeaway every night.
What really sets this place apart though is how it sits in the neighborhood. You’re literally a five-minute walk to the beach, but more importantly, you’re right near all the local spots that aren’t overrun with tourists. There’s this little coffee place just around the corner that does the best flat whites, and you can duck down to the wharf area without having to navigate through the main strip. The 9.5 rating makes total sense when you stay here – it’s not trying to be some flashy resort, it’s just nailed all the things that actually matter when you’re staying somewhere. The beds are properly comfortable (not those rock-hard hotel mattresses), the WiFi actually works throughout the apartment, and the whole check-in process was refreshingly straightforward. I stayed during peak season and barely heard any noise from other guests, which is pretty remarkable considering how thin walls can be in these older buildings. Honestly, it’s the kind of place where you end up extending your stay because you realize you’ve found something special, and given how competitive accommodation gets in Manly, that’s saying something.
You need to let the property know what time you'll be arriving in advance.
