Anyone who’s driven through Paddington knows it’s an absolute nightmare finding a spot – those narrow Victorian streets weren’t exactly built for modern cars, you know? Having your own designated space is honestly worth its weight in gold, especially when you’re lugging suitcases around. The location puts you right in the heart of things without the Oxford Street chaos. You’re a two-minute walk from those gorgeous terraced houses everyone posts on Instagram, and the Saturday markets at Paddington are literally around the corner – I could smell the coffee and fresh bread from my window that morning. There’s this great little café called Ampersand that locals actually go to (not just tourists), and it’s maybe fifty meters down the street.

The studio itself has this clean, uncluttered vibe that somehow feels homey rather than sterile. The bed is actually comfortable – firm enough that you won’t wake up with a sore back, but not like sleeping on concrete. Kitchen setup is simple but functional; I managed to make proper coffee and even cooked breakfast a couple mornings. The bathroom’s compact but well-designed, with decent water pressure (trust me, after a day walking around Sydney’s hills, you’ll appreciate a good shower). One thing I noticed – and this might sound weird – but the place stays surprisingly quiet considering you’re in the middle of everything. The windows must be decent quality because I barely heard the morning traffic, even though Glen Street gets busy during rush hour. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too; no waiting around in some fancy lobby pretending to be impressed by marble floors. Just keys, quick explanation of the WiFi situation, and you’re sorted.

Honestly, for the price point and location, I can’t really fault it. Sure, it’s not going to win design awards or anything, but it does exactly what it promises – gives you a clean, comfortable base to explore one of Sydney’s most interesting neighborhoods. You’re close enough to walk to the city when you feel like it, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with tourist crowds every time you step outside. Perfect for someone who wants to experience Sydney like a local rather than just tick off the usual tourist boxes.
