Hurstville Ritz Hotel Overview
Look, I’ll be straight with you about the Hurstville Ritz – it’s not actually a Ritz, but don’t let that put you off. This three-star spot on Forest Road has been quietly doing its thing for years, and honestly, it’s one of those places that grows on you. The lobby’s got that slightly dated but comfortable vibe (think early 2000s renovation that’s held up surprisingly well), and the staff actually remember your name after the first night, which is pretty refreshing.
What I really appreciate about this place is how it sits right in the heart of Hurstville without feeling like you’re stuck in suburban nowhere. You’re literally a three-minute walk to Westfield – and I mean actually three minutes, not travel-website three minutes – so you can grab decent coffee at the food court or hit up the Asian grocery stores that make this area so great. The hotel’s position means you’ll hear some street noise from Forest Road during the day, but it dies down pretty well at night. Parking’s included, which saves you a fortune compared to city hotels, and the Hurstville train station is close enough that you can be in the CBD in about 20 minutes when you need to venture into Sydney proper.
The rooms are… well, they’re exactly what you’d expect from a solid three-star. Clean, functional, with that particular carpet smell that every Australian hotel seems to have (not unpleasant, just familiar). The beds are actually quite comfortable – I’ve stayed in fancier places with worse mattresses, honestly. Air conditioning works well, which matters more than you’d think during Sydney summers. The bathroom’s compact but everything works, and they’ve got decent water pressure. You know what really sold me though? The view from some of the upper floor rooms – you can see across to the Georges River on a clear day, and there’s something oddly peaceful about watching the suburban sprawl spread out below you. It’s not the Harbor Bridge, but it’s real Sydney life, and sometimes that’s exactly what you want.

Staff were nice, food was good downstairs. A bit noisy at the early hours of the morning on the street but not the hotels fault. I stayed here because I needed to go in surgery very early at Waratah Hospital and that was a 2 min walk away. Plenty of tea and coffee and bottled water and biscuits. Bed is comfy and clean.
