Harbourside Style, 2 Bed, A/C, Pool -Elizabeth Bay
You know what struck me first about this place? The moment you walk into 20-22 Onslow Avenue, you’re not in some sterile hotel lobby – you’re in what feels like a really well-designed friend’s apartment building. I mean, Elizabeth Bay has this reputation for being all fancy harbourside living, but honestly, this spot manages to feel both upscale and actually livable. The two-bedroom setup is perfect if you’re traveling with family or friends who don’t want to be crammed into a single hotel room, and the air conditioning – trust me on this – is a godsend during those Sydney summers when the humidity just sits on you like a wet blanket.
The pool area is where this place really shines, though. It’s not huge (let’s be realistic, you’re in the middle of Sydney, not some resort), but it’s perfectly positioned and maintained. I actually spent most of my early mornings there before the city heat kicked in, and the whole vibe is just… relaxing in a way that’s hard to find in the city. The Elizabeth Bay location is honestly brilliant – you’re close enough to Potts Point that you can walk to some incredible restaurants and bars, but far enough from Kings Cross that you’re not dealing with the weekend chaos. The harbor views aren’t just marketing fluff either; depending on which way your unit faces, you really can catch glimpses of the water between buildings, especially from the upper floors.
What I really appreciated were the little things that show someone actually thought about how people live. The kitchen is properly equipped – not just a mini-fridge and microwave situation – so you can actually cook if you want to save money or just prefer eating in. Parking was surprisingly straightforward for this area (Elizabeth Bay can be a nightmare for street parking), and the whole building feels secure without being fortress-like. The neighborhood itself has this interesting mix of locals who’ve been there forever and young professionals, so you get great coffee shops and the occasional excellent hole-in-the-wall restaurant that only people who live there seem to know about. I stumbled across this tiny Lebanese place just two blocks down that became my breakfast spot – that’s the kind of discovery you make when you’re staying somewhere residential instead of in a tourist bubble. The 8.9 rating makes sense to me; it’s not trying to be the flashiest place in Sydney, but it delivers on comfort and location in a way that feels genuine rather than manufactured.
You need to let the property know what time you'll be arriving in advance.
