Look, I’ve stayed at my fair share of Sydney apartments, and Grace at Mosman actually surprised me. When I first pulled up to 16 Clifford Street, I’ll be honest – it’s not the flashiest building from the outside, but that’s kind of the point. It sits quietly in one of those tree-lined Mosman streets where you can actually hear birds instead of traffic, which is saying something for Sydney. The whole setup feels more like staying in a friend’s well-appointed apartment than a typical hotel, and I mean that in the best way possible.
What really won me over was how thoughtfully everything’s been done inside. The apartments have this lived-in quality – not sterile like some serviced places – with proper kitchens where you can actually cook (the knife selection alone puts most hotels to shame). The living areas have enough space to spread out, which you know is rare in Sydney. I stayed during a pretty busy period in autumn, and honestly, the noise levels were perfect. You’re close enough to Military Road that grabbing coffee or groceries is a two-minute walk, but far enough back that you’re not dealing with bus noise at 6 AM. Speaking of location though – and this is something I wish I’d known beforehand – you’re basically a pleasant 10-minute stroll down to Balmoral Beach. Not the touristy bit, but the actual swimming area where locals go. That alone makes it worth considering if you’re someone who likes morning swims or evening walks along the water.
The service hits that sweet spot where they’re helpful without being hovering. Check-in was smooth, parking was sorted (and trust me, street parking in Mosman can be a nightmare), and when I had a minor issue with the TV remote, someone was up to fix it within the hour. What I really appreciated was getting local recommendations that weren’t just the obvious tourist spots – they pointed me toward this little bakery on Avenue Road that I never would have found otherwise. The 8.7 rating makes sense to me because while everything works well and the location is genuinely excellent, it’s not trying to be a luxury resort. It’s just a really solid, comfortable place to stay that feels authentic to the area. If you’re the type who values being in a proper neighborhood over being in the thick of tourist central, you’ll probably love it here as much as I did.
You need to let the property know what time you'll be arriving in advance.
