You know what caught me off guard about this place? It’s actually a proper family home, not some generic hotel block – and honestly, that makes all the difference when you’re traveling with kids. The moment you walk into 14 Meadow Street, it feels like you’re staying at a well-off friend’s house rather than checking into accommodation. The pool out back is what initially drew me in (I mean, who doesn’t want to cool off after dealing with Sydney’s summer heat?), but it’s all the little homey touches that made our stay memorable.

The location in Concord is sort of perfect if you know Sydney well – you’re far enough from the tourist madness to actually relax, but close enough to everything that matters. There’s this great little café about three blocks down that does proper flat whites, and the train station is walkable when you want to head into the city. What I really appreciated was having actual kitchen space to store groceries and make breakfast without paying hotel prices. The bedrooms are generous – not that cramped hotel room situation where you’re living out of suitcases on the floor. Actually, there’s proper wardrobe space, which seems obvious but you’d be surprised how often that’s missing from family accommodations.

The pool area becomes the heart of the place during warmer months, and I loved that it felt private rather than shared with dozens of other guests. The kids could splash around without bothering anyone, and there’s decent outdoor furniture for the adults to actually enjoy a coffee or glass of wine. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no standing in lobby lines or dealing with front desk politics. The whole experience feels more like house-sitting for someone with good taste than staying at a commercial property. Sure, you don’t get daily housekeeping or room service, but honestly? For families, having the space to spread out and the freedom to come and go as you please is worth way more than those hotel formalities. The 8.5 rating makes sense when you consider what you’re actually getting – it’s not trying to be the Ritz, but it delivers exactly what a family needs for a proper Sydney stay.

  Great family spot within walking distance to many amenities. we used it for the FIFA finals games! Spacious living room and kitchen. washer and dryer were great to have. Pool was beautiful to look at, but cold!
