Hotel Description

Look, I’ve stayed in a lot of Pyrmont apartments over the years, and this one on Wattle Street actually surprised me in a good way. The whole “10 minutes to Darling Harbour” thing isn’t just marketing speak – I mean, I timed it one morning walking to grab coffee at the waterfront, and it was closer to 8 minutes if you take the shortcut through the little park area. The three bedrooms are genuinely spacious too, which honestly isn’t something you can say about most Sydney accommodation without crossing your fingers.

What I really appreciated was the parking situation. You know how brutal it can be finding a spot in this part of town, especially on weekends when everyone’s heading to the harbour or those new restaurants along Harris Street. Having that dedicated space meant I could actually explore the area without constantly checking parking meters or worrying about getting towed. The apartment itself has that lived-in feel – not sterile like some rental properties, but not worn down either. The kitchen’s properly equipped (I made pasta one night and didn’t have to hunt around for a decent knife), and the living area gets great afternoon light. I noticed the building’s pretty quiet during the day, though you’ll hear some traffic from Pyrmont Bridge Road in the evenings – nothing major, just the usual city hum.

The location really shines when you start exploring beyond the obvious tourist spots. There’s this excellent little bakery on Union Street that locals queue up at every morning, and the Pyrmont Bay Park is perfect for morning runs if you’re into that. Plus, you’re walking distance to both the fish markets and the casino if you want completely different vibes on the same trip. The 7.3 rating feels about right – it’s solid, comfortable, and does what it promises without any nasty surprises. The only thing I’d mention is that the building’s a bit older, so the elevator can be slow during peak times, but honestly, that’s pretty standard for this area. For the price point and the fact that you get actual space to spread out in one of Sydney’s priciest neighborhoods, it’s a decent find.

    Near Darling Harbour, very spacious for 7 of us

    The average is good, with basic facilities and living things. The apartment is larger than I expected. 10 min walk to the shopping mall. Shower pressure is good.

    What could be improved: The door to the car park is ALWAYS locked, and we have to take a lift to the P1 and walk to the L2 parking location, so ridiculous. I don't know why not the host provide a key for opening the park door, so annoying and inconvenient, or tell the alternative access way to the tenant.
    The parking space is narrow. It is a bit tricky for a large car.
    The bad sheets are a bit old. Quilts are pilling.
    The wifi speed is extremely slow.

    The amount of sleeping space was great. The location was good, within 1km walking from city.

    What could be improved: The showers were horrific, the drain in one was falling away and had no grout. The silicone in both were mouldy. The toilet in the main bathroom flooded the first night and we had to avoid that toilet.
    – The carpark was very tricky to get in and out of. No lift directly up and down, had to walk a fair bit to get to car and through a door that kept locking.
    -The balcony is within metres of a school, not an issue for weekends or nights, but was noisy when we arrived on Friday arvo.
    – Had clumps of hair and dirt under one of the portable beds.
    – kitchen clearly had been used, stove top dirty.

    Had issue with state of apartment, called owner, owner was very concerned and attended apartment in 30 minets with cleaning crew, gave us a very nice bottle of Shiraz and refunded some of the fee, very helpful and responsive gracious host

    Great location, we happily walked to Darling Harbour and to the light rail stop. Grateful for the free parking, the initial trip from the parking garage with all the baggage took a while but once in it was fine. Spacious / lots of room for a family of four, good basic kitchen facilities, apartment generally shows wear and tear but was mostly neat and clean. Mbassy Cafe on the corner (just up from the front entrance) was great for breakfast, and the Glasgow Inn (around the corner on William Henry St) served a tasty dinner!

    What could be improved: Strong smell of old cigarette smoke on arrival and when reentering, smelt like a smoker's home (also in all the soft furnishings and curtains). We ended up buying and burning some incense which helped. Bedrooms need curtains to block the light from outside at night, the flimsy venetians weren't enough and also need replacing.
