Hotel Description
Look, I’ll be straight with you about this place – it’s one of those spots that doesn’t win any Instagram awards, but honestly? It gets the job done really well if you’re actually here to explore Sydney rather than hang out in your room all day. The whole “Ensuite King Single Room” thing in the name is a bit much, but what you’re getting is essentially a decent-sized room with your own bathroom and solid air conditioning (which, trust me, you’ll appreciate during those sticky February nights).
The location is genuinely fantastic though, and I mean that. When they say “next to Central,” they’re not exaggerating – you’re literally a five-minute walk from Central Station, which means you can basically get anywhere in the city without thinking twice about it. I stayed here last spring and found myself popping back between exploring different neighborhoods because it was so easy. You know what’s really handy? There’s a Woolworths about two blocks away, and honestly, having groceries nearby when you’re dealing with Sydney prices is a lifesaver. The area around Central can feel a bit gritty at first – there’s always that mix of commuters and… well, interesting characters – but it’s perfectly safe, just busy. Actually, the street noise dies down surprisingly well after about 10 PM.
What I really appreciated was how straightforward everything was. Check-in was quick, the guy at the front desk actually knew the neighborhood (recommended a Thai place that became my go-to), and the room was exactly what you’d expect from a solid 3-star place. The bed was comfortable enough, decent water pressure in the shower, and the AC worked without sounding like a freight train. Sure, the decor is pretty basic – think IKEA meets budget hotel – but everything’s clean and functional. The 7.3 rating makes sense to me because it’s not trying to be fancy, it’s just doing the basics really well. I mean, you’re paying for location here, and that location delivers. I walked to the Opera House one morning (took about 25 minutes through the Botanic Gardens), caught the light rail to Darling Harbour another day, and even made it out to Bondi pretty easily. The whole “closely located to Sydney must seen spots” thing in the name is awkward English, but they’re not wrong – Chinatown is right there, you can walk to Darling Harbour in fifteen minutes, and getting to Circular Quay is just a quick train ride. If you’re the type who wants to maximize your time seeing the city rather than lounging in a fancy hotel lobby, this place makes a lot of sense. Just don’t expect room service or a concierge – but honestly, with everything so accessible, you won’t need it.

I like the location as the lodge is near shops and close to the train station central. It is a clean venue and staff are friendly.
Great experience, great value for this location, easy to communicate with property owner. – Nattinee from Thailand – 15 March 2023 (8/10)
Location
What could be improved: Noise from other guesses.Excellent experience – Dung from Australia – 26 November 2022 (8/10)
I love the furniture as well as how they arrange everything inside the room (I prefer the bathroom, really beautiful) And I like the location as well as it is right in front of central station so it’s really convenient for me to move around.
What could be improved: Though I said I liked the location, but It’s so noisy at night as there are so many train moving during the night. Really annoying with that. And the internet is quite slow for me, especially the TV)Great location and comfy beds but cleaning needs attention – Lia from Australia – 7 April 2025 (6/10)
The location is perfect and the kitchen facilities were helpful. Upon request I was also able to get an extra towel. Bed and pillows were extremely comfortable!
What could be improved: The room was not very clean. The canvas pictures and window sill had a thick layer of dust and dirt on them and there were broken floorboards in the middle of the floor, with sharp edges. The bathroom also needs to be mold cleaned. The dryer didn't work either.Good – Tommaso from Australia – 10 March 2025 (7/10)
This place is close to Central station, so it is perfectly placed to visit Sydney with all puclic transport option. Room had AC and the Wifi connection was stable and fast.
What could be improved: The bathroom cleaning level can be definitely improved. Also, there was only one shower towel and no hand towel. It was a good stay, convenient, good location and amenities. – Ganisen from Malaysia – 11 November 2024 (7/10)
Location, amenities, the ease of checking in and checking out
What could be improved: A little noisy as it was beside the central train station. I had no idea how the sheets and towel change was done but i did see sheets provided – i just didn’t know if it was for my room as it was not labeledThe location was superb! It is just right next to Central station, and also L2/L3 trams. Convenient! – Clarice from Australia – 26 September 2024 (8/10)
The door codes were texted to me before my arrival, so it was easy to check-in and out.
What could be improved: The bedsheets were not fitted sheets so when I tossed and turned at night the sheets get lifted to reveal a big stain on the mattress which was a big put off.Very good – Geoffrey from Australia – 17 December 2023 (8/10)
The room was small but comfortable, the bathroom was very good. It was very clean. There is a shared kitchen that I didn't use, but it seemed to be functional and practical. The location is excellent and the hotel entrance is directly opposite the Elizabeth Street exit from Central Station.
Comfortable but not recommended if you value your sleep – Mariana from Australia – 12 November 2023 (7/10)
The room is tiny but comfortable for 1 person. The ensuite bathroom is a plus.
What could be improved: The noise from the train station day and night made it very hard to get proper rest and other guests doing the laundry at night, not respecting the hostel rules and slamming doors after them.
The light coming from the street was also not helpful for favouring sleep. Black out curtains would be appreciated.
