Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about this place on Castlereagh Street? The lobby actually feels like a hotel lobby – not trying too hard to be trendy, just clean and welcoming with that subtle hum of city life filtering in from outside. I mean, you’re literally in the heart of Sydney CBD here, which honestly can be a blessing and a curse depending on what you’re after.
The location is pretty much unbeatable if you want to be in the thick of things. You can walk to Circular Quay in about fifteen minutes (I timed it), and Hyde Park is basically across the street – perfect for morning runs or just escaping the concrete when you need a breather. What I really appreciated was being so close to the Queen Victoria Building; you’ll find yourself ducking in there constantly, whether for the food court or just to admire that gorgeous architecture. The shopping along Pitt Street Mall is right there too, though fair warning – weekends get absolutely mental with crowds. For a 3-star spot, they’ve got the fundamentals down solid. The rooms aren’t huge (this is Sydney CBD, after all), but they’re thoughtfully laid out with decent storage and – thank goodness – proper blackout curtains. You’ll need them because the street can get pretty lively, especially Thursday through Saturday nights. I actually found the city sounds kind of comforting after a while, that constant low buzz of taxis and late-night conversations drifting up from the sidewalk.
The staff genuinely seem to know their stuff about the neighborhood, which is rarer than you’d think. They pointed me toward some great coffee spots on Liverpool Street that I never would’ve found otherwise, and when I mentioned wanting to catch a show, they had actual recommendations instead of just handing me a tourist pamphlet. Check-in was smooth – no weird delays or surprise fees that seem to plague some city hotels. Honestly, for the price point and that 7.7 rating, it delivers exactly what you’d hope for. It’s not going to blow you away with luxury touches, but everything works, it’s clean, and you’re sleeping in one of the most connected spots in Sydney. If you’re the type who plans to spend most of your time exploring the city anyway, this makes perfect sense. The value proposition is solid, especially considering you’re saving money on transport since you can walk to most major attractions. Just book early if you’re coming during festival season – this area fills up fast, and honestly, you’ll want to secure a room that faces away from the street if you’re a light sleeper.

Reviews
Great stay, hostess seemed lovely and left contact details if needed. – Yulene from New Zealand – 6 July 2025 (8/10)
Clean, tidy and close to tram/ buses and train station. Decent gym for this type of complex, great pool and spa area.
What could be improved: Bathroom good do with a couple of fixes, would be great to have a bin not just the small bathroom one.It was nice and in a good location. A pleasant stay. – Ann from Australia – 4 February 2025 (7/10)
The location is great. The rates are reasonable. The room is comfortable and has everything you need. The bed is big and soft and the pool spa was good and warm. You can walk and use the light rail to get anywhere in CBD. We phoned the host about the faulty smoke detectors and she dealt with it straight away. Thanks for the little welcoming pack.
What could be improved: There is no breakfast available in the complex. It could have done with a bin in the living area and a set of instructions on how to connect to the Wi-Fi. A text to let us know how to check-in would have been nice but the host answered us as soon as we called her on arrival.Clean, affordable and great location – Martha from Australia – 2 November 2024 (8/10)
Clean, affordable and great location, close to buses and trains.
A pleasant room if you're happy to wait for the lift. – Jim from Australia – 19 September 2024 (8/10)
The room was clean and well equipped. There was a fridge, microwave, small stovetop as well as a two seat dining table. The bed was comfortable and the shower hot.
What could be improved: The curtain didn't completely block the window, there was only one lift servicing about 20 floors, and I wasn't sent check-in information before arrival.Great location in Sydney CBD – Arjan from Australia – 4 March 2025 (8/10)
Great location in Sydney CBD, close to Central Station and buzzling Chinatown. Room and bathroom are nicely decorated, making it feel like ‘home’
Little kitchinette but well equiped. Owner is very quick to respond and check-in and check-out instructions were clear and easy.
What could be improved: Only remark is that the airco can be a bit noisy.Comfortable, safe, part city view. Near Central. Added security, part of Oaks Castlereagh complex. – Robyn from Australia – 3 January 2025 (7/10)
Air B&b. Comfortable bed & surrounds. Adequate facilities for self catering. Access to Oaks Castlereagh pool complex.
Small corner store next door selling basic needs. If you shop there don't forget to check the expiry date of the milk you buy (mine expired 2 days later). It was selling homemade baklava at the time and it was awesome.
No other very close food outlets for our everyday tastes.
What could be improved: We were in a very predominant Asian community area. Plenty of Asian food outlets however only Aussie pub on a few corners selling traditional Australian cuisine. Nearest Australian traditional supermarket 1/2 kilometre away in the World Square complex. FYO Subway is near the World Square complex.Sydney Haymarket stay – Robyn from Australia – 22 August 2024 (9/10)
Location, the studio apartment, the owner, excellent instructions & check in.
What could be improved: We didn't dislike anything.Good – Saloni from Australia – 21 November 2024 (7/10)
Location
What could be improved: nd shower has the mould, dirty vacuum left in bathroom.
Sewerage smell.Exceptional Apartment with all you could need. – Aussie5 from Australia – 15 June 2025 (10/10)
The amenities in the apartment far exceeded what we expected. Loved that we had use of the pool. Liked that we had a King size bed and it was very comfortable. Loved the view of the station clock tower. Loved that we could walk to the tram and apartment was close to Central Station. The host thought of everything that would make us comfortable.
What could be improved: Didn't have a lot of space for our large cases. There was a mix-up with the check-in time but this was not the host's fault. We were told it was Booking.com's fault.Had a great stay at this property. Its so classy, nice decoration make seems like 5 star. – Librado from Australia – 14 January 2025 (10/10)
Breakfast was fantastic too many options too many restaurant and cafe. I highly recommend this place was located in the heart of the city and few minutes to harbor bridge, opera house, the rocks, and botanical garden. Big thanks to Mai, well be back to this property.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
