You know what hit me first about this place? The address literally says “CBD” but when you’re standing in the living room looking out those harbour views, you forget you’re in the middle of everything. I mean, 75 Kent Street puts you right in the thick of Sydney’s business district, but honestly – and this surprised me – it doesn’t feel cramped or touristy at all.

The whole setup is pretty clever, actually. Six beds sounds like a lot (and it is), but they’ve spread everything out so it doesn’t feel like you’re bunking in a hostel. The main living area has these massive windows that face the harbour, and I spent way too much time just watching the ferries come and go. There’s something hypnotic about it, especially in the morning when the light hits the water just right. The kitchen’s actually functional too – not one of those weird rental kitchens where you can’t find a decent knife. I made coffee there every morning and it felt… normal? Like staying at a friend’s place who happens to have incredible taste and a killer view.

Here’s the thing about the location that the address doesn’t tell you – you’re walking distance to Circular Quay, which means you can literally stumble out the door and be at the Opera House in ten minutes. But more importantly (and this is local knowledge), you’re also close to those little laneways behind George Street where the actual good coffee shops are. Not the tourist traps, but the places where office workers grab their flat whites. The street itself can get a bit busy during weekday rush hours – I’m talking proper Sydney foot traffic – but evenings and weekends it’s surprisingly quiet.

What really sold me was the attention to detail. The beds are actually comfortable (you’d be amazed how many places mess this up), and there’s proper blackout curtains so you can sleep past sunrise if you want. The whole place feels like someone who knows Sydney designed it for people who want to experience the city properly, not just tick boxes on a tourist checklist. Plus – and this matters more than you’d think – the wifi actually works throughout the entire place, even in the bedrooms. I was working remotely for part of my stay and never had to hunt for a signal.

The perfect rating makes sense once you’re there. It’s not trying to be fancy in that over-the-top way that ends up feeling fake. Instead, it’s just really, really well done. Clean without being sterile, comfortable without being boring, and positioned so you can walk to everything that matters. Honestly, if you’re traveling with a group and want to feel like you’re living in Sydney rather than just visiting, this is exactly what you’re looking for.
