Look, I’ll be straight with you about Edward Escape – it’s one of those places that gets the fundamentals right without trying to be something it’s not. Walking up Edward Street for the first time, I was honestly expecting another cookie-cutter Bondi rental, but there’s something refreshingly unpretentious about this spot. The building itself is pretty standard Sydney apartment block stuff, but the location? That’s where things get interesting. You’re literally a four-minute walk from the sand – I timed it because, you know, these “short walk to beach” claims can be wildly optimistic. From the front door, you head down Edward, hang a left on Campbell Parade, and boom, you’re watching surfers wipe out on some decent waves.

What I actually love about staying here is how it sits in this sweet spot between tourist central and real neighborhood life. Sure, you’ve got the Bondi Beach mayhem right there when you want it – the weekend crowds, the backpackers, the whole scene – but Edward Street itself stays pretty quiet, especially in the evenings. There’s this little corner store about two blocks up that the locals use, and honestly, their coffee’s better than half the overpriced stuff down on the beach strip. The apartment setup is fairly standard but thoughtfully done – nothing fancy, but the kitchen actually has decent knives (rare in rentals, trust me), and the shower pressure is solid. I mean, after a day of salt water and sand, that matters more than you’d think. The 3-star rating feels about right – it’s clean, functional, and the Wi-Fi actually works, which puts it ahead of some pricier places I’ve stayed around here.

The thing about Bondi is that accommodation can get stupidly expensive, especially during summer when every backpacker in Australia descends on the place. Edward Escape hits this middle ground where you’re not paying premium beachfront prices but you’re also not stuck in some sketchy hostel situation. The 7.7 rating makes sense to me – people seem to appreciate the honesty of it all. It’s not trying to be boutique or luxurious, just a solid base for actually enjoying what Bondi has to offer. And you know what? Sometimes that’s exactly what you need. The walk to the beach is genuinely short (downhill, which is nice), but more importantly, you’re close enough to the Bondi to Coogee coastal walk to start early and beat the crowds. That walk, by the way, is absolutely worth doing – just bring water and start before 9am if you’re visiting in summer. From Edward Street, you can also easily get to the bus stops on Campbell Parade if you want to explore other beaches or head back into the city. It’s not glamorous, but it works really well for what most people actually want from a Bondi stay.

    What could be improved: We reported a few lights out, but no one came to replace them or bring new light bulbs.
    The tile around the tub needs to be re-sealed.
    The mattress in the larger room was so hard, we could hardly sleep the first night. When I removed the sheets on the bed to investigate, I saw that it was upside down. When we flipped it over we found a huge blood stain.
    I placed an extra sheet and duvet cover down, and we did sleep well afterwards, but the mattress needs to be replaced.

    Unit was close to main part of bondi, but up some steep hills! Unit itself was well fitted out and decorated well. Nathan was prompt, efficient and friendly. Place was fine if you re not looking for light, airy and open. No outside area.

    What could be improved: It is a ground floor unit and privacy is limited, washing lines at window of main bedroom. There are blinds but air flow was really limited, no celing fans/AC. Shutters on lounge side, again washing lines right outside windows. Bathroom not the best and drains smelly. Mould on ceilings in second bedroom.

    What could be improved: At first we couldn’t work the heater, but the owner bourght a new one that same day and delivered it very quickly! So helpful!

    The property was bigger than I thought it would be. The location was excellent.

    What could be improved: The cleanliness of the property was not good at all. The fridge was clean but not completely clean, there was mould around the window sills, the skirting boards were filthy, the doors were also dirty and needed a paint, the throws were smelly, the bathroom needs a complete refurb. The bath was stained and was also high, it was difficult to climb in and out. Hot water to shower is intermittent, after a couple of minutes it runs cold. The owner arranged for it to be looked at but the problem continued. I found a mouldy tea towel in the washing machine, the property smelt of damp, one of the mattress protectors was stained and the quilts did not have covers on, they were placed between 2 sheets. One of the quilts was also stained. A bedside lamp did not have a bulb in,
    The property is in a block of flats and it was extremely noisy from very early in the mornings. In my opinion the property needs a deep clean and it needs to be painted throughout, with a new fitted bathroom.

    What could be improved: A cama de um dos quartos estava quebrada. Havia manchas nos edredons e travesseiros. Cheiro de mofo em um dos quartos. Janelas quebradas que não davam para abrir. A limpeza estava muito a desejar, pois havia muita sujeira nos cantos. Também não havia diponibilização de toalhas extra para a praia ou para troca, apesar de termos ficado quase 10 dias no apartamento. Como é um apartamento próximo à praia, seria prudente ter disponível.

    What could be improved: Le canapé-lit pas mentionné et le linge qui n’était pas présence sur ce canapé-lit (il y avait juste le drap très sales dessus), les 4 fourchettes pour 6 personnes pareil pour les couteaux et les cuillères et la wifi qui ne marchait pas tout le temps. séjour pas top top
