Look, I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Drummoyne Furnished Apartments on Lyons Road, I wasn’t expecting much. The building’s pretty understated, sort of blends into the neighborhood in that way that makes you wonder if you’ve got the right address. But you know what? That actually turned out to be one of its best qualities. You’re staying in a proper residential area here, not some touristy bubble, which means you get to see how Sydney locals actually live. The apartments themselves are genuinely spacious – I mean, after cramming into those shoebox hotel rooms in the CBD, having a full kitchen and separate living area felt like luxury. Everything’s clean and functional, though don’t expect Instagram-worthy design or anything. It’s more like staying in your organized friend’s spare apartment, which honestly works better for longer stays anyway.

What really sold me on this place was the location, and I don’t mean that in the generic “convenient location” way everyone says. Drummoyne sits right on this peninsula that juts into the harbor, so you’re literally surrounded by water on three sides. There’s this fantastic walking path along the foreshore – locals call it the Bay Run – where you can jog or walk for kilometers with these incredible harbor views. I’d grab coffee from the little strip of cafes on Lyons Road (there’s a decent one called Campos just down the street) and walk down to the water most mornings. The ferry wharf is maybe a ten-minute walk, and honestly, taking the ferry into Circular Quay beats the hell out of dealing with Sydney traffic. Plus, you get those postcard harbor views for the price of public transport. The neighborhood itself has this relaxed, family-friendly vibe – lots of young professionals and families, tree-lined streets, that sort of thing. It’s quiet enough that you’ll actually sleep well, but not so quiet that you feel cut off from everything.

The staff here actually seem to care, which is refreshing. Check-in was smooth, they gave me proper local recommendations (not just the obvious tourist spots), and when I had a minor issue with the air conditioning, someone was up to fix it within an hour. Parking’s included, which saves you a fortune if you’re renting a car – trust me, paid parking in Sydney will drain your wallet faster than harbor bridge tolls. The only real downside is that you’re not walking distance to the main attractions, but honestly, that ferry ride is half the fun anyway. I’d stay here again, especially for anything longer than a few nights. It’s got that sweet spot of being affordable enough that you don’t feel guilty about the nightly rate, but comfortable enough that you’re not counting down the days until you can go home.

  The unit was clean and comfortable for a 2 night, self-catering stay for 1 person. The location was next to a good cafe for coffee or breakfast and close to other places for getting dinner, if required. The on-site manager communicated well and while there was limited on-site parking, there was street parking nearby.
  
  What could be improved: Though clean, the facilities were a little 'tired-looking', which didn't really bother me, but might bother others. People with mobility issues might struggle with stairs to the upper floors, as there's no lift.
